Why does my weed taste like crap?

Hey peeps im growing 2 different strains, there about 60 days into flower. The one strain I bought and grew from seed, the other is from bag seed, 6 plants in all. They all are looking good, almost 50 percent brown hairs. I picked a little bud of each plant, and dried it on my ballast over night. I rolled up the bagseed first , and it tasted like shit, not even like weed. No cough at all, just not good :-( But the other strain smells ok, tastes not bad (For quick dry) and got me a nice buz. So what does that mean? Is the bagseed just a shitty strain ? Will it taste, and smoke better after its dried and cured? If anyone has any answers I would glad to hear them. Thanks guys and stay high.

Have you started flushing your plants yet? Oh course its not gonna taste all that good right now if not as well as the chlorophyll not breaking down and what not and you speed dried it. Lol what do you expect bro you did a rush job on it its not gonna be no where close to how you want it to be mate.. You wont even start smelling and tasting the true aroma till 2 weeks after you have been curing it..

Instead of doing a fast dry on a nug, you should make some finger hash or Honey oil out of a little nug. :) Gives a great flavor and glimpse ahead as to what is to come. :D

You've been giving them nothing but straight water for 8 weeks? What kind of soil are they in? Are they showing any kind of deficiencies? Got any pics?

Ya I got some pics , there i n Sunshine Mix #4. In the first 2 weeks I fed them DNF grow. But thats it. Also I fed them rain water whenever I can, so they get some nutrients that way. sept30.jpgPicture0155.jpg

Props on having plants that look that decent with having no nutes for 8 weeks! The pics are kind of deceiving, something about them looks airy and wispy but its hard to tell for sure with the pics. If they are airy and wispy that could be why they taste crappy with a quick dry.

Somehow they are getting nutes, especially nitrogen cuz I dont see any yellowing, it could also be because of that. They dont look like they will have much bag appeal any ways so If I were you I would just do a water cure on them. Its even faster then a regular dry and cure and will get rid of that nasty flavor you speak of.

It could also just be the strain, but I think personally it is just the conditions of growing/drying. If anything at least try a water cure on a half or 1/4th of your harvest and see which tastes better to you personally . :)

rain water has very low ppm so their is no nutrients in it thats why plants like it no calcium or iron stuff like that ... its pure like 5-10ppm tap water has why more nutrients in it than rain watermost tap is already 200-300 ppm cheap ass nutes that work pretty good are jacks classics theres a 20-20-20 for veg and a 10-30-20 for flower worked good for me when i used promix awhile back just use 1/2 - 1/4 recommended dose with that stuff cuz its very strong

Thanks for all the input guys. I did want to mention this is my first grow. I have read up on water curing, and I was thinking about it. Mr. Green, can I get those nutes in Canada ? and thanks for the info, I always thought they did. Hunter, those pics are taken at the end of sept, I will take some better ones when I chop them down, which is this weekend, maybe. I have 6 , three are super dense bud, (The bag seed) but not too much trichome development. But they smell real good, and the last week or so they have like increased smell by 50%. These are the ones that taste like shit when quick dried. The other three are from seed that I bought, must be more sativa, it stretched like crazy and yes are a litttle bit "airy". But way more tichcomes. And they taste pretty good, even when quick dried. I just let them grow from seed, got rid of males and saved one female for clones. So they never got topped or anything. Also they did not get much veg time. I had to cut it short for time reasons.
So even with all the issues they still turned out ok. Could have been a hell of alot better. But live n learn, be happy with what yeah got, and there is always next time.
Anyway I will let yeah know how it goes. And PS its 6;30 am here so dont mind the spelling or grammer.
Thanks

Dont water cure (well I wouldn't anyway lol) use mason jars, fill them up 7/8's of the way. Then burp them once in the morning and once in the evening. And take the bud out of the jars when you burp one of the times, that way they can move around and it helps prevent mold. Do that for at least 2 weeks.

I used dry ice a few times too that works well and is a cool way to cure your buds

I would water cure before I would use dry ice. Dry ice instantly stops the decomposition of chlorophyll! So if his bag seed bud tastes like shit then dry ice is not the answer. If this is a personal grow and you are concerned about taste over smell/ Bag Appeal I would water cure at least a 1/4th of the harvest of the bud that you said tastes crappy.

Dry ice is a nice way to get the bud dry fast and taste decent, I just think it would be a bad idea with a bag seed grow that already taste crappy with a quick dry. The water cure will help remove most contaminants and provide a nice smooth smoke.

dry it properly......slowly for about a 7-14 days depends on your drying conditions......and cure normally in glass jars. It will always taste bad if you dont hang it dryin for long enough, you would be surprised at how nice it is after just a good dry, a cure just makes it even better.
