Why does my plant have 3 leaves?

This was from my first grow a few years ago and I have never seen anything like it since. Does this happen in some strains or was it some kind of mutation? I got the seed from some flatpressed Thai weed so i'm not sure what strain it was. I can't figure how to upload my pics here so they're on imageshack http://img51.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=spa0098.jpg

that just happens sometimes, i had one but it turned out male =( i was looking forward to topping it and seeing how many tops it produced too.. hehe
