Why does everyone like tops so much?

If I was doing this as a business, I'd just smoke the lowers and the trim. But I'm in the garden for me and Pops, and when we open our jars, I want us see the most beautiful nugs the garden produces :blsmoke:
Even if it were a business.
If someone rolled you a blind test of 2 joints 1 lower 1 tops do you reckon you could pick them?
If someone gave me the buds to roll a joint I could tell. A joint is about the worst way to test it though. You tend to take a lot of hits and the terps get skewed.

If someone gave you a blind test with your prefered smoking method do you think you could pick it? you can't see the bud.
I think so. The bottoms tend to have a higher leaf to bud ratio and taste harsher. I smoke big joints of the bottoms and get high, but a bowl of the tops get me zonked. Also bag appeal is big for me. I love having a jar full of amazing looking herb. I don't think the bottoms are low quality by any means, but they aren't as good as the tops.

I doubt it, wouldn't imagine the taste and effects would have a big enough difference to detect. I want my stash to reflect the effort I put into growing it. First and foremost potency, but aesthetically as well. I pull out a nice frosty top at a party like I'm pulling the cover off a new Bugatti  I'm about as far from royalty as it gets, but the beauty of growing your own smoke, is even a peasant can smoke like a King

Nothing wrong with lower larfy bud to use for making dry ice hash which is why I don't defoliate. But the damn tops are going to be a better product. I'm not making hash with the big buds and smoking the lower buds. I save those premium tops for special occasions and giving away to friends.

Dead serious
Nothing wrong with lower larfy bud
I cut off the lower Larf off at beginning of flower so the plant focuses on the important buds, however I definitely prefer the lowers over the tops. They are always more frosty to me without exception & sometimes depending on the light may be a little looser, but not a noticeable difference. I prefer a bit looser anyway, but not larf❗
