Why does co2 hurt my plants!?

Co2 stops root growth if you don't know that already so if your using high levels of co2 in veg it's unnecessary. 600-700 ppm is ok for veg below 250 will stop plant growth. Reason why they bump it so high in flower is you figure you don't want your plants root to stretch causing root bound in flowering which isn't good so stunting root growth making for constant root generation makes for constant flower growth cause its soil is never bound. Hope that makes sense. My plants never loved high levels in veg roots were always tiny, you have to do it by periods. First 2 weeks of flower 1000 ppm to help with stretch, week 3-7 1500 ppm of co2 to pack weight and last 2 weeks you'd drop it to 800-900 to build higher thc levels and to finish properly
well now that makes sense really. and kind of reinforces my earlier opinion on it being beneficial when vegging trees. I mean if the plant is that big it's roots are large enough for the space most likely.

I don't use it in veg.

First I ever heard that co2 stunts roots. Not saying you're wrong, just never heard that before. I know some enrich during veg only and seem to have good results.
I've never heard it either red, but the roots need oxygen and there is no doubt they'd get more in an unenriched room.. I can say that for me in veg. I'll have 5-6" roots poking out of my pots in my tray sometimes. But within a week of being in flower those exposed roots have dried up and fallen off. This could be heat related too. I don't really know.

I meant calyx sorry lol. This could happen for many reasons, more so in a CEA room like mine but if your propane runs out, co2 bags die out whatever the case maybe co2 levels drop drastically when you have hundreds of plants or not enough co2 in the first place . My plants have dropped to 190 in my room causing complete stunting for 2 days when my tank runs out doesn't matter if there air conditioning is going and the 6 co2 bags are in there, size of the room and density of plants will kill it.
If you have a constant in fan going thermostat/timer and an exhaust on a timer you'd be able to bump co2 levels from outside but your in fan would have to be let's say 2000 cfm and your out 1/4th that rate to not suck all your co2 out and also compensate for extra humidity and what not.

I add air stones to my water for extra oxygen also Joe to me it helps out alot. I use it for nutrients and plain water I also use root bloom it's an endo mycorihaze only no trichederma to harm the mycorihaze let the air stones sit in there all the time and it works it's wonders. I also leave a gap of 300-400 ppm in my room for the plants to uptake. So my autopilot will be set at 950 ppm I set the deadband to 50 ppm and it will still rise to over 1300 ppm it naturally falls back down after about an hour to the original 950.

I'm no expert man just from trial error and my familys been doing it for almost 30 years, learning is key. But the plants need to breathe obviously so when you pack co2 into the room and they uptake it they release oxygen how much oxygen and if it's enough for them to survive depends on your enviroment and size of room, plant density. When plants don't get enough oxygen they wilt almost like over watering which is derived partly from... not enough oxygen to roots also. coincidence? Lol

So why is CO2 hurting buddies plants? Hahah
I forgot what the thread originally started about after getting through the posts.

Anyway cool info on CO2, don't plan on trying anytime myself.
If I did however I would have a completely sealed room. Just me, people do and it works though. I always figured that was the hole point.
I've researched growing about 4-5 years done. Have maybe a year or 2 hands on. Many hours of reading however different forums and books.
Never have heard of venting the room, like I said seems to be opposite of what your trying to accomplish.\

And this stagnant air your talking about....whoever that was.
I don't think you make any sense...
Yes I understand what you said about opening the doors it the summer and blah blah blah...Fresh air and sun is nice...however it doesn't make me breath any better...
Anyways I can see the benefit in venting but I don't think it is necessary. If your doing it lights it makes sense

But then again in the winter where the hell are you going to get all that fresh air from so quick....
Ya I convinced myself a sealed room is a sealed room...One day I will have CO2 and I have just made up my mind...lol
Good old kief!

Oh yes and for the fellow with the mold on the wall. Yes it is a steel building and the cold from outside hitting the hot wall and causing condensation. However this is an insulation problem nothing else. Spray foam would fix that right up.

so basically what you are saying is that if they look good and healthy and your o2 levels are high enough and your co2 levels are high enough venting a room is unnecessary?

and if they are good healthy plants they should produce enough oxygen along with the o2 given while watering?

if I see signs of droop or overwatering then I should either 1: vent my room intermittently to draw in more o2 for the roots or 2: increase aereation of water? both together would be best i'm assuming.

or even possibly add another watering per day too if the rootzone can handle it too?

I'm really high right now :joint:

By dumping if you mean vent out, never. I don't have fluctuations of temperature within 7 degrees of its set point. Humidity never fluctuates more then 10% from its set point. There's no air coming in either expect for the air conditioner which draws little from outside.

I've read a few posts, maybe even back on overgrow, where someone would aerate rezervoirs with outside air. Some who add h2o2 to help add back o2.

guys stop already. if you can breath to water them or clean the room or what ever. that plants are fine. if you walk into the room and cants stay more then 10 minits before getting light headed your o2 lever are to low you will need to turn your ppm down or exchange air. my room is 2200 ppm it takes about 10 min of chilling and the lack of oxy will hit you . its never vented or air exchange. plants love it .

the h202 would only last so long. up to three days max i've used it plenty....no longer though.

edit: I like the drawing fresh air for the rez idea....i might do this.

i've read in several studies so far that levels that high can hurt growth.

not on mj though
