Yea, you gotta treat them 'elites' with kid gloves if you care about rep points.. Or you can just not care about rep points, because they aren't an accurate representation of knowledge.. Look at Uncle Ben and M Blaze etc.. Most of the +rep I get is for cracking stupid wise-ass responses to stupid questions, or merely as thanks of sorts for +repping noobs who seem to have more knowledge than their history implies..
Regarding the OP though, one thing that hasn't been mentioned is plants smell because they're healthy and active.. Plants respire gases and water through their stomata, and with this tags along the aromatics.. The more your plant smells (as compared with itself, not other genetics), the more vigorously its growing.. Rustling them around squeezes out the same gases/compounds that they transpire naturally, higher temps will dilate the stomata so they can process more CO2/water.. Other things dilate/contract the stomata too, but the odour is a result of the fact that pretty much anything in the plant has a route to the same stomata..
