Why do people refer to marijuana as DOPE??

The URBAN dictionary defines dope as the following


1.)As of today it is used to define heroin.

in areas where they sell crack or heroin, its almost always refered to as dope by those even loosly associated with the trade. my guess is that if you hear "dope" and think crack or smack, you probably know gangbangers or people who hang out with gangbangers.

i grew up in not the greatest of areas and dope never meant weed. now i live in a rural area and dope always means herb here.

It is termed off of the release of Dopamine in the body when you intake THC. There are many other drugs that cause your body to release this chemical and can and is also called Dope.

Thats the real reason but im sure with all the pot heads here we can come up with a million other reasons.
Wait, why do we call it pot? I don't grow in pots!
