Ive had 7 Plants die on me.... ive been using 2 cfls{unsure on the wattage..but i wanna say..they're the equvalent of the 60w incandescent ones...put out something like 9000 lumens} and a 2 Foot 15w fluoro.... i have a plastic box...wrapped in reflective metal tape + aluminum foil....ive been using cut in half sterilized 5 gal 'milk jugs' with Miracle gro top soil....ive watered with NOTHING but filtered tap water...that i let sit out for a couple days..So i really cant see where im going wrong? the plants always seem to go lifeless...the leaves shrivel and get all dangly...which i know are signs of under/over-watering... but ive never overwatered...or underwatered... ive gone with the whole "Finger in soil" technique ive read so much about on here....anybody know where i possibly couldve gone wrong? the plants seemed to be doing spectacularly for the first 3 weeks...then suddenly..death...this is a sad day in my pothead life..

ok you have your facts wrong on the lights. A 100 W equivalent cfl only puts out 1300 lumens, if it's the 60w equivalent then you need alot more lighting. Aluminum foil can cause hotspots and burn plants too. Also you need to check the PH

i can tell you:
-wrong light bulb, incandescent are not got to grow with, use CFL's/T5/MH/HPS to grow with
-milk jugs, plant killer commando, get some real pots and start with jiffy tabs
-aluminum foil, plant burner, paint the walls flat white and you are set
-not enough knowledge about growing to such noob mistakes, get your ass down and read the stickies before you start over again!!!

he's not using incandescent he's using cfls and for one plant the 2 cfls might work for a little while but not more than that.

i didnt say i used incandescents.. i said i use cfls..i forgot what the wattage on them was...and ok 9000 mustve been way off..maybe i meant 900? for the record.. i did real all the stickies.. so your telling me..the fact i used milk jugs and aluminum foil is what killed my plants?

You need to ph test your water, get real pots, stop using mg soil, no foil. MG has timed released ferts in it and you don't want any ferts on your plants for the first month.

Foil will sednd uneven heat and can burn milk jugs are not light proof light kills roots dead roots mean dead plants.Cfls are nice for house lights but you gotta get the biggest to make em work to fgrow buy some 300 watt equivalent at like homwdepot they are 65 watt cfls about 17 bucks each get at least 4 or save the time and effort for same cost get a 400 watt hps setup on ebay

what is the temperature? how close are your lights? any airflow? sounds strange tin foil is not a good reflector and does cause hot spots but i have used it and am currently using it with no problems (i know i will eventually have problems once i get a bigger light) I use flourescents tube and cfl. I am a newb and have not killed many plants (stressed them into hermies many times) but not killed not sure what your problem is when i was younger i grew plants longer than that with no care they didnt die my parents found them. I wish i could be more help but i doubt tin foil or milk jugs are killing your plants
