Why do ALL the LED grows look so lame compared to HID?

my advise to you is to top the 2'nd node when your plant has 4 or 5 nodes. Called unclebens topping. Will give you smaller plants with more main colas. That way, you can LOWER your lights and you won't have to worry about pop corn buds. Try it out. i will be doing this outdoors to see how much I can personally push a plant with roughly 4-5 feet of max height
this I can agree with

But I never once said hid is better, I said several times led's work great, I said if I had a warehouse grow I would use led and just do sog grows because led would be a better choice, but not for a person that needs as much bud as possible in the shortest period of time with very few plants.
I still dont understand why you would come to a LED section to debate their lack of functionality in small grows.... that point of view is assuming all things are equal and size of area, electricity cost, stealth, heat... just to name a few could be considered as reasons why people dont want to use HID in compact areas....

Good and valid question. I am trying not to post here but you guys keep calling me back so il answer when im brought up. This didnt start here, it was started in the hid section by led guys posting about the led takeover. Do you all think a group of hid guys just all randomly started posting in the led section at the same time? And when the argument got going they call in the mods, never seen a group of criminals so quick to call in the law. I dont assume anything, I said led has a place and if you cant figure out how to vent a hid, led is great, if you have crazy high electric rates led is great, if you use led for stealth you should quit growing, small grows dont attract the law, odor and talking about your grow does. Now iv answered your questions, if im brought up again il be glad to respond again, if not I wont. Simple

perhaps people want the stealth as they flat share or live with family... why should they stop growing because of that.. growing is an enjoyment and a past time and if LED can help people achieve that then Im all for them growing via "stealth" mode

If LED fans went into the HID section and started causing problems then that is as bad as what some of you appear to be doing here.. playing tit for tat is juvenile at best... It doesn't matter who started it, as I said earlier, take the higher ground and leave the trolls wherever they are from be... its the internet and both of you "groups" are taking the internet waaaay too seriously

Fair enough. It is always good to question and be skeptical, compare and discuss with respect. HIDs and LEDs both have their uses for growing good weed. It is good for HID guys to learn that LEDs really can grow bud and it is important for noobs to learn that UFOs and chinese LEDs cannot compete with big HIDs

this is good, and what i like seeing in these threads..........nothing wrong with good convo.

I said a pound with a 1000 hid is easy with 4 plants with a 4 week veg. Plant count is important. So if you want to end the argument plant 8 seeds, after germ put 4 under led and 4 under hid, veg for 4 weeks and flower. Whoever yields most wins. Simple.
That's an absolutely horrible comparison and shows how little true experience you really have growing. Now I don't mean your ability to grow quality, but overall experience. That or your understanding of R&D. Then again that's kind of my area designing models for comparison is something I'm familiar with. A much more realistic and meaningful comparison would be more like taking a tried and true mother plant you want to use. Take 12-16 cuttings, as close to the same length and uniformity as possible. Use the ones with about the same root time and vigor. Toss the others then compare.

true it's the only way you can get a fair comparison, very often the same cutting will come out completely different because one was topped early or not as well rooted or more veg time or whatever

Yeah, can't expect everything to always behave the exact same way 100% of the time. Could be 90%, but still there are always going to be outliers that fuck up your analysis either way. Also,(No offense Jbone) found it kind of funny how they said plant number is important. No not at all. Size is important, so is surface area. You could train one plant to produce what 10 plants do. It's always give and take. i.e. less plants more veg time, more plants less veg time. If plant numbers were important no one would be doing extended vegs with successful grows. Just like if extended vegs were necessary for yield people wouldn't make great pulls with SOG and SCROG. People need to take into account variables. Which there are a shit ton.

It has nothing to do with my experience, you are 100% correct, identical clones are the true test of any component in your grow room but that is not what we were discussing at that time, he is going to be doing a small scale grow to simulate the scenario that a home grower that can only have a few plants would face, thats why I said seeds, not cali style where you can have 3 mothers in a mother room, a veg room, and several flower rooms for " personal ". On the same token since you are all about R&D you would know that if he wanted to do a true scientific test, he couldnt use the cuts from the plant he is using now, he knows exactly how they react under led and what he can do to push em, he doesnt have the same know how with that strain under hid. That goes back to my point about veg time, he knows he can veg those 6 plants for 6 weeks and fill a tent nicely with his rig, he cant veg those 6 plants for 6 weeks and flower them under a 1000 watt hps in a 4x4 tent, he will have huge plants with no air movement resulting in crazy high temps, pm, bugs, and the entire bottom 3/4 of the plant will just be stem, thats not what 1000's are for. I think cali guys forget how small a 4x4 tent really is. In my state 5 plants is a few months in county, 6 plants is 3+ years in prison, mothers arent an option, everything grown is flowered

^^^^^^. Thank you Skunky I've been saying that all this time.....

everyone else.

hps blows. Who would thing you could grow a plant using a street light of all things..lol Those are designed to light up an area not grow plants. Thats why they appear so orange.... Nothing like what the sun puts out.

see what I did I used the same logic against you pro hid guys.... That was good for laugh. .

I take no offence to that because its pretty much what I said, size is the point, but size and plant count go hand in hand when growing in a tent , you cant do extended vegs with multiple plants under 1 light in a tent. In an open room its a different story

quit trying to prove yourself... Your lies and contradictions dug you a hole.. Every post you say the opposite of what you said prior..

fyi clones would be a better test. Not one seed grows the same as the next even if its the same strain.. Some grow faster or slower than others. Some branch out more or stretch more than others even if all seeds are the same strain..

no you said seeds would be a better test. you say one thing. Then you are corrected . Then you agree with that person and say that's what you said. Like all the shit you talked on leds and saying how shitty they are. Now you say they work great ............
