So I was looking at the Northern Lights strain at Attitude because people have said they are easy to grow, but upon looking, there seem to be many "Northern Lights" and some are way more expensive than others. I do notice, however, that for some of these they mention it's NL x Something (Big Bud or Afghani).

I was thinking about NL because people said they are easy to grow and high yielding, but cannot seem to decide on which ones actually have these qualities. Can I just buy the cheapest one? What's the difference between the companies "Medical Seeds" and "White Label"?

Thanks

you know how China creates Nike shoe knockoffs? Well thats basically the same thing with strains. theres usually one breeder with the true genetics, and then a bunch of other guys who have bred a product with similar genetics. i have no idea who sells the original version

When a breeder has success with a strain they created many other breeders will attempt to capitalize on the success of the strain and will create their own knockoff and give it the same name. All someone has to do to see how that happens is to look at the roughly 25 different knockoff White Widow strains available. Some are fairly good but they are not the original White Widow that was renamed Black Widow.

Sometimes knockoff breeders will advertise their strain in a misleading fashion, like saying the strain won a Cup. They just fail to mention that the original genetics created by a different breeder won a Cup and that theirs couldn't win a Cup if it was the only entrant.

If you want a particular strain it is always best to purchase the original genetics created by the original breeder.

there is actually a breeder through attitude called "female seeds" not to be confused with the "feminized" category. they have no description except a logo that says "female seeds.nl". they have what they call "x line black widow" and they copied and pasted direct from mr nice's black widow desctiption changing a few minor details. now they are either full of shit or they femmed out some mr nice plants. they have also x line serious seeds gear. i'm assuming xline means they femmed someone's shit but they have some expensive other shit that's not x line. 96 bucks for 6 fem "chronic" seeds and the copied gear works out a bit more expensive than the original? they seem sketchy to me.

its shit like this that makes the name of a strain useless in some situations.
That is why I will so often say that when someone mentions a strain they need to mention the breeders name too. A quality strain might only be quality from that particular breeder and if that is what is being talked about, the breeder' name should be mentioned. The same goes for when someone says how poor some well known strain is. It might only be that breeders knockoff that is bad and just using the strain name might keep someone from trying the original breeders genetics or a better knockoff that they might love.
