For some perspective, here's how alcohol sales are treated in Canada:

British Columbia: Beer, wine and spirits are sold in provincially-owned and private liquor stores. Craft beer can be purchased at the brewery.

Alberta: Beer, wine and spirits are sold in privately owned liquor stores.

Saskatchewan: Beer, wine and spirits are sold at provincially owned liquor stores, rural franchises licensed by the government, and in three privately owned stores. Beer, wine and spirits are also available at various "off sales" attached to bars and restaurants.

Manitoba: There is a mix of government-run and private wine and beer stores. Hotels are allowed to sell beer as licensed vendors, similar to "off sales."

Quebec: Beer and wine are sold in grocery stores and corner stores. Wine, spirits and select beer are sold in government-run outlets.

Nova Scotia: Beer, wine and spirits are sold at provincially owned liquor-store outlets. Some beer, wine and spirits are available at some private stores.

New Brunswick: Beer, wine and spirits are sold in provincially owned liquor store outlets. A limited selection of wines is available at some grocery stores.

Prince Edward Island: Beer, wine and spirits are sold at provincially owned liquor store outlets and a number of licensed agency stores.

Newfoundland and Labrador: Beer is available in various convenience stores. Liquor and beer are sold at provincially owned liquor store outlets. Wine is only sold at provincially owned liquor store outlets.

Ontario: Beer is available in certain grocery stores (2017). Wine, spirits and select beer are sold in government-run outlets.

So, aside from Alberta, every province already has some sort of distribution cartel for alcohol that could profit from expanding into Cannabis distribution. That said, the number of paid lobbyist pushing for private sales is huge. This is CANADA and with enough envelopes stuffed with cash and influence peddling anything is possible!

Liquor should be entirely government owned. Then all profits going back to offset the damages it causes through society. And fuck the billionaire Jews making money all day long fucking up our people.

And before you go report me for some misguided ignorance, you can easily Google who owns the vast majority of the alcohol racket in Canada (and why we pay so much for it).

that's the thing though, Canada's approach to legalization is different than everyone elses so far in that Health Canada will be regulating it (i believe) so as far as I know only LPs will be allowed to distribute/sell marijuana. People will need to become licensed through Health Canada and most dispensaries currently probably will not qualify. Trudeau is setting up his own buddies to benefit from this, and the cops need to maintain their current funding for the drug war so you can be sure they will still be enforcing bullshit rules and regulations just for something to do (and to keep the jewdicial system going).

I also feel like this whole thing is just an election ploy with no intention of actually going through. Conservatives will try blocking the bill from passing so Trudeau can come out and say "look I tried to do it and they stopped me" to make them look like the bad guy. Just a bunch of bullshit basically so the elite can manipulate the markets and get rich off investors and stocks.

what? I dont care where you live if you want tasty, new and exciting goods then making it govt owned wont work.

If Canadian legalization follows the Colorado example, I foresee that those with the most political influence (largest warchest for bribery) will get the legislation they desire.

Since that's the LPs, that's who I think will end up with the commercial monopoly.

Grow your own and share.

Well hopefully enough ppl fill out the survey and ask for private sales.
Fingers crossed
it would take them the next ten years to read and compile anything from the public,
This is a ruse to make us think we had a something to do with it.. :cuss::wall::hump::idea::idea:
...its really very sad to see..

Looks like COURT TIME FOLKS!!!

While Health Canada regulates producers, the provinces will determine distribution and sales. In BC that will most likely include dispensaries. Craft growers will be approved, imo, although it may take awhile.
The CONs cannot do anything to stop legalization - cannabis will be legal by July 1 - it just won't be the version that we want. It will evolve over time.
