This is a question that has been tossed around forever.......

1. There is the original by Sensi Seeds but it very different now then it used to be. Still has to be a top consideration.

2. Dr. Atomic has a N.L. that people used to rave about but not so much anymore. I've had some bad experiences w/ Dr. A. so pass.

3. Dinafem has their version of a N.L. called "Industrial Plant" which is very nice from personal experience. Same mother of Jack Herer (bud, not the man)

4. KC Brains has a N.L.Special but I've heard hermie issues come with it.

5. I've heard and seed decent reviews from Nirvana's N.L. but if you go with them, go with their N.L. X Blueberry. It's better then the straight N.L.

6. Seedsman has a N.L. that I believe is a nice version of the original strain.

7. Doggie Nuts- avoid their N.L. puely based on their reputation and expensive price structure.

8. White Label- they are associated with Sensi Seeds and probably worth consideration of their N.L. too.

And there are tons of N.L. hybrids that will increase taste and yield with a lot more choices........personally, I'd try to find a N.L. #5 from a reliable breeder and go with that but it's getting tougher and tougher to find those too. And lastly, ask 100 people the same question and you'll get 100 different recommendations.

I own the Ortega, which is N.L. #1 X N.L. #5.... there are MANY complaints about hermies with this strain. If you put them in flowering VERY early, Shantibaba states it may cut down the chance of hermies. He personally recommends only using this strain for breeding because of the hermie issues. There is a lot about all this on their forum site.....

Bummer man, went with shantis as it was one of the versions as close to the original as i could get without paying over the odds that sensi want for there version. Should ave looked at mr nice forums about these hermie issues... what a bastard lol, looks like im gonna have to fork out for the sensi version dont fancy wasting my time with hermie shite. It was either shantis version or sensis for me.

should i order straight from seed breeders like sensi? or should i order from a seed bank? is there any advantage to the seed bank besides the fact you can get different brands in one place? are breeders more reliable?

Ive never ordered direct from breeders myself, i would think a company like sensi is fine tho. With seedbanks you get the freebies which may or may not be good but atleast its something free lol dont know if breeders do this.

Most of the foreign breeders won't ship to the U.S. To be specific, I would look to Attitude, Everyonedoesit, and Herbies for most of those listed. Dr. Atomic is sold by numerous vendors. You can get Nirvana directly from them. Do some google searching to find where each is available.

Now on to the Mr. Nice "Ortega"- read all about the issues at the Mr. Nice forums but what I know is this. If you veg them long, they will hermie on you. Some report almost 90% of the plants throwing off banana's. I bought the last pack but forget where, so I bought it quick because IT WAS THE LAST PACK. Then I started researching it too and realized my mistake. BUT, if you veg them 2 weeks and then flower, keeping them small- I've read this changes the hermie issue down to maybe less then 10% of the plants. If you keep a close eye, you should be able to pick off the naner's and keep the room from seeding. I also forgot to mention Ceres has a "N.L. X Skunk" hybrid which I just grew out and it was also a very nice item- don't know how I forgot about it but I'm smoking it as I type......

Ill prob keep mine for a rainy day and get some sensi NL to run first, 100 quid tho they better be worth it haha. I'll give ortega a spray with reverse when i do pop them see if this sorts the hermi trait out.

I should also mention Sensi's N.L. #5 X Haze.......... although it's a beast when growing, the seeds are very expensive and it takes a long time to flower- it's ultra potent and is an oldie and still a goody. Grow this and you won't want to grow anything else for a while! Below is Attitudes description which is quite interesting:

Sensi Seeds Northern Lights #5 x Haze : Opposites collide in perfect hybrid fusion! Northern Lights#5 x Haze balances the finest features of soaring tropical Sativa and voluptuous, earth-shaking Indica. Universally regarded as a high-point in cannabis breeding, many weed scholars consider her unsurpassed, even today. Of all the hugely popular ganja varieties launched in the second wave of hybrid development - including Silver Haze, Shiva Skunk and Silver Pearl - the most successful has always been NL#5xHaze. Her tendency to make a permanent impression on smokers and growers owes a great deal to the fact that her Sativa genes are fully and joyfully expressed, instead of being dominated by the power of her Afghani parent. Upon release, this enormously potent and productive seed-strain swept the cannabis awards and sparked something of a ‘grass-roots’ revolution in breeding. NL#5xHaze reminded the cannabis community that Sativa magic was rapidly being bred out of commercial strains in the quest for the shortest, fastest plants. Indica genes were becoming the dominant influence in almost every crop and the true Haze rocket-ride was in danger of becoming a memory. NL#5xHaze helped to turn the tide by demonstrating that growers could have it all – mind-blowing Sativa effect and weighty Indica production – for just a few extra weeks in flowering. Expect significant height gain from NL#5xHaze. Indoor plants can be flowered with little or no vegetation period, which compensates for their extra time in blooming. Rooted clones and even seedlings can be flowered immediately and may go on to exceed 1m by harvest time. Gaps between internodes are quickly filled by long, running colas. At the mid-point of blooming main stem and branches are completely obscured by sticky, profusely hairy buds which then swell in every direction until the end of flowering. It’s quite common for NL#5xHaze to produce terminal buds longer and thicker than a grower’s arm, even at indoor heights. From cannabis seed, Northern Lights#5 x Haze produces huge, bountiful, uniform plants and is very easy to clone, producing crop after crop of strong cuttings. Her distinctly psychedelic Haze power is complemented by the yield and crystal of NL#5. Growers who treasure their Northern Lights#5 x Haze mother plants have been known to produce killer harvests for a decade or more with no loss of quality.

Hey Growone......thanks for piping in. I may give it a shot next crop.
not much left for choices on the nl#5, from what i recall British Columbia Seed Company used to be the holder of the legit nl#5
they seem to have a much sketchier rep in recent years, though i see the occasional good word

Flying Dutchman has been bought out by another breeder and their quality is way down these days.

G13 Labs.....grow the Pineapple Express, if anything. Many of their other items are just average quality.

Nirvana is like G13 Labs......hit or miss. Cheap prices and average quality generally. Try to grab original genetics for better quality, not rehashes which these are.

Doggie Nuts is a rip off........do a google search and read the 100's (if not more) complaints.

I can't comment on De jamaam at all..... don't know anything about them.
