Who monitors humidity?

Im just wondering how many of you actually monitor your humidity in your grow room? I am noticing my humidity start to raise and it is freaking me out because I have heard it is bad to let it get over 50% in flower. I have a friend though who is growing and dont even monitor the humidity in his grow room and I KNOW he has to have high humidity! He said he dont monitor the humidity because his grow room is in the basement and basements are naturally humid. He said just get some more fans?

Thanks!

i'd bet 90% of RIU members monitor the humidity in their grow rooms. you can get a cheap hygrometer from home depot for about 3 bux. You need more exhaust imo, you can always use the damp rid containers that absorb moisture....

alot of times the fresh air is giving you 100 percent humidity 40 to 65 percent humdity is all good in flower
many people run into problems when phaseing into flower as they drop humidity below 40 and then notice plants having issues stressing, drying out

I am monitoring the humidity and it is now running in the 50-low 60s with lights on but the other night when the lights were off I see the humidity went all the way up to 80%. I am still in veg but I will be flipping over in the next couple of weeks and Im just worried about it. Dont really want to have to get a dehumidifire. I did look up those DampRid containers yesterday and seen they had good reviews. I just dont know how well they would work in my grow room. I have seen a lot of people monitor their humidity and was suprised to find out my friend wasnt monitoring his.

I've always used em ..... but the minute anyone get's budrot. It's time to get a hydrometer and more air circulation. I fallen victim almost 3 times to budrot due to high humidity and no air circulation with lights off..

i monitor it.

my biggest problem is fllowering in the winter where humidity can be around 60%+

usually though my humidity stays between 40-55...sometimes like i said up to 60.

from my experience mold isnt an issue to you start going above 60...then it gets sketchy especially if you have plants too bunched together.

yeah wtf to the above post. if your fresh air is 100 percent humidity , your grow room should be the same contantly getting this fresh air

Honestly I never check humidity or ph. I only have 5 grows under my belt. 2-3 plants at a time. They have all been flawless grows. Lucky? I suppose.

I do keep a close eye on the temps though.

I'd say mostly luck... your water source must be close to 5.8 ph and your humidity levels probably fall in the safe zone...

I way off PH will be devastating to a plant it can lock up nutrients in the form of un-dissolvable salts and compounds, some of which are actually toxic to the plants.

Thats why Im wondering....because my friend has his grow room in his basement and that is where mine is at. He has like 20 plants in there 10x10, 2 1000 watt hps, and 2 oscilating fans. His last grow he had 6 plants and got 8 Os. Last time I was over there his basement had flooded and there was a good inch of water covering the floor. So I would assume his humidity would have to be high. So then I was wondering if I should really be that concerned with the humidity or not. Anyways....What ill effects have you seen from letting the humidity go to high??

I dont, never really had a problem in my olld place but im considering it in this place as I get dry skin a bit which would mean low humidity right?
I think you should be wary in flower,as long as theres not water on your wall you should be fine.

I would imagine signs of mold on your walls or every where.
If its high youl have mold some where.

humidity is important in many ways, to much in bloom 50+ % can lead to mold and powder mildew,
and to little 30% or less can lead to slow growth and stretching. so for ultimate growth and good
health having a stable RH is important. Things to help control RH is dehumidfier and a humidifier
they can be run by a control box to keep your RH stable.
