Who agrees SCROG is outdated and inferior to SOG?

I have to agree. I am not sure yet, but I tried SOG in my cabinet and it is very unruly. I just built a screen and cleared out the cab. Flowering two moms under it right now with 60 2.25 x 2.25" squares (30 for each plant). Already I can see it will turn out much better than in the past. +reps.

Anyways, if you have height restrictions - scrog is it.

if you have a small space - scrog is it.

if you want the minimum plant numbers with maximum yields - scrog is it.

CFL, fluoro, MH, HPS, doesnt matter - scrog is it.

who wouldn't want a perfectly even canopy full of buds? you never have to worry about your whole plant, or side branches snapping because they are too heavy...

i really like the idea of sog thats what im starting now..but with the right set up scrog: strain,lights,nutes,co2..it seems to be very rewarding aswell..really up to the grower and what he has to play with..i whoudnt try a scrog with cfl's..but there ok for sog...

I think High Density SOG is the way to go, SCROG is great too when worried about plant numbers but here in Cali most counties with the 6-12 plant limit I've heard can have 10sq ft of canopy or 6 mature plants... So with that I would have to go with HD SOG with 12-16 plants per square foot like DrBud taught me to do and pull 7-21g a plant cuz seeing him pull 1lb from 420w of CFL's is inspiration like a motherfucker!!! I was inspired first by his 2sq ft cab with 210w and have been able to duplicate his setup and make it work for me like he said it would... Plus harvest just tops of primo cannabis every week is wonderful!!! SCROG inferior??? nah it's a great method too but a SOG turns over more bud and when working with square ft instead of plant numbers..shit I can pack 36 of my girls in 2.5 sq ft and can fit 4 of those cabs in my 10 sq ft and lets say 7g each plant gives me 252g per cab with a total of 36oz!!! so I can pull 2lbs in 2months in 10sq ft under CFL's with a shit load of plants tho lol and yea I'm ramblin on go HD SOG!!!!

Another drbud fan. Me too...

I am not a member there and so never could see his yields and such. Can you throw me a bone with pics I can't get to and numbers on that? If you aren't a member it seems it doesn't give you page 8 and beyond.

I always wondered if that would pull a pound if it were full.

Well the Scale reveals the TRUTH...
36.6
40.9
30.3
29.2
37.9
28.5
______
203.4 WET
Will leave us with Approx.
50.85 grams dried.
after removing 75% for drying
*Below will help ya' understand why weights are shown WET*
http://www.angelfire.com/cantina/fo...yor/3things.htm

50.85 / 6 plantlets gives us Avg. dry weight per of...8.475 Grams dried per Cut.
And ya know what .....
I will even go so far as to take 1.475 grams from each cut for "Stem Weight".....
so I'am ONLY weighing "Smokable Flowers".
So we will use 7 grams as our "Finished Weight" per cut.

So I said I could achieve 7 grams dried per cut...in my "Zero Veg SOG" and I did....
I did Better.......Now
7 grams per cut.....6 cuts per cell.....12 Cells per level
42 grams per cell x 12 Cells = 504 grams,18 Ounces, or 1.33 Lbs
under 420 Watts of CFL's
504 grams / 420 Watts (Actual 321 watts Lower Chamber was run @ 321 watts this run by Accident)
1.2 GPW
Actual weight is 1.57 GPW (MrWizard AKA Blynx will show us that)
Once again PROVING that a Zero Veg SOG is Hands Down the MOST productive way to produce as many Canna Flowers as possible in a Given Space

Now can we all just grow some weed and get along w/each other....
And...
KEEP and OPEN mind

i could do a 1 lb plant in 3 months from seed... right now i basically have 2 of those, each has its own 1K bulb - i'll get accurate harvest weight this time, but i pretty consistently pull 1 lb per 1KW per 3 months in my SCROG... its a small closet with 2KW though

i dont like the high plant numbers, and i also only have 1 room to grow in ;-)

90 days to make 2 lbs using 2kw of light is not efficient. You are getting .15 gram per watt, per 30 days. That math assumes you use the 2kw the whole 90 days. I will assume you use less for veg, so the gpw ratio is probably a bit higher. Nonetheless, you should try to get much higher than that.

nah - I know its not the most efficient, i was just sayin' i could make a 1LB plant 2 months faster than cheesysynapse....

on the other hand the grams/watt ratio is about as fucked up as the THC% reported by seedbanks... (there is no way the bud i'm growing is even close to 20% THC by weight, all the trichome heads on the bud cant weigh 1% of the actual bud they came off of)

if i get 2lbs from 2KW - that should be roughly .5g/watt, and it took 3 months to get... (most of it shows up in the last month though ;-)) if you always measure by the same amount of time it would work (but the time frame always differs)... it would be better if everyone started doing grams/watt/month because the people who veg their plant for 5 months with a 400w bulb say they are getting 3 grams/watt or better...

I know its not the most efficient use of the lights, but it is definitely the most weight i can pull using the space i have... i had to put 2KW in there so i could get enough weight to get me to the next harvest...

nah - maybe 6... i dont have it running constantly... i usually slack off for 1 cycle a year.

i've only had 2kw in there for 3 grows...

Saying ScrOG is outdated is a completely false statement. The SOG vs. ScrOG debate depends solely on the user's needs and situation.

For a large-scale commercial producer, SOG is indeed a much better course of action for quick turn around, and constant production. Also, the ease compared to ScrOG makes it more favorable.

But for the personal grower, ScrOG can provide the best use of space for high yields. ScrOG is better for box-growers so they can use the space available [or lack there-of] to maximize yields. Also, ScrOG also limits height and allows for even light coverage to all of the branches.

Another situation where ScrOG is favorable is for the Medical Marijuana Patient who is limited to the number of plants they can grow. By using ScrOG, a MMJ Patient can double, triple, even quadruple the yield they could have had by SOGing.

My point was simply that given a choice SOG is vastly superior.
If it weren't for laws making things dangerous with high plant counts I don't think we'd see a lot of scrog any more.

Having said that, and having started this thread, it's ironic I will probably be doing a scrog here shortly. A number of them actually for perpetual harvests. Being a medical grower I have that plant limit. I just wish the rules were different so I could do a number of zero veg SOG's instead that was my bitch and reason for starting this. Frustration...
