White Widow (feminized seed from NIRVANA)

I wasn't sure whether or not to start a journal or to post some pics in the plant problems thread.

I ordered feminized seeds from Nirvana and took pictures of them on 9/5/09. I tried to germinate three seeds using the paper towel method. Only one popped a root from seed. Once the root popped, I planted it into a 3 gallon container using Fox Farm soil + perlite. Funny story: as I was gently moving the seed with tweezers from the paper towel to the pot, I slipped and lost the seed in the soil. I thought all was lost! :-?

I stirred the soil up but could not locate my little seed. I left the container outside hoping that the sunlight would work magic and somehow the plant would grow. I didn't even know if the seed was even IN the soil! Luckily, within a week, a tiny little shoot came up out of the soil! YAY!

I kept it outside for a week or so to allow it to grow before I moved it inside to my area. My area WAS about 2' X 5' using a self-made CFL fixture with six 42w 6000k CFLs.

I got some Buddha Grow organic fertilizer, mixed up a gallon of the stuff and pH balanced some water. I used about half of the recommended concentration on the neuts.

I nearly killed the plant when I changed my area from floor space to a grow tent (GrowLab). I tripped the timer while I was setting up the tent and forgot to reset the timer, so my plant was under 24 hours of light. Ugh.

With a little TLC, it came back to life! It is definitely true that these plants grow in spite of my goofy mistakes.

Some leaves started browning and curling, some got yellow around the rim of the leaf and I hav e these knat looking things milling about the soil. It doesn't look like the bugs are eating the leaves, but I went and got some stuff to mix into the water to kill them and I put up a sticky thing to capture the bugs as they did have wings. When I water my plant, I shake it out to stir up the bugs and try to drive them towards the trap.

Today I clipped off two lower branches and placed them in a cloning solution I got at the hydro store recently.

Yeah; some of the leaves have yellow around the outer rims of the leaf. I stopped putting neuts in once that condition seemed to be getting more pronounced. I hope the worst is over, as you say.

I snipped a couple of clones today so I'm hoping they root.

Just put a homemade CO2 generator in my grow area. The cuttings I took aren't looking too good, but it was just an attempt. Oh well.

The plant is bushy and I think probably ready for 12/12. I'll give some more nutes today when I water and take the plant off the stand it currently sits on.

I'll take some pictures later today.

Were you flowering? Based on your pics, it doesn't appear so - not sure what's "ugh" about 24/0; many people do it for veg (myself included).

I'm guessing you run 18/6?

Yah; 18/6 is my veg setting. The temperature had gone up as well to exceed 80 degrees F. The plant had completed wilted and looked horrible.

Just switched my plant over to 12/12 last night! Gave it a flush for good measure; leaching out the nutes from veg. Also switched out three of my 6 CFL bulbs from 6000k to 2700k.

Mixed some grow + bloom nutes, but I'll wait a few days to introduce them.

Anyone please correct me if I am wrong but your ccuttings may not be doing well because you cannot clone feminized seeds. Something I read on here some time ago......I could be wrong....Good looking plant though! I did the homemade co2 generator as well and it really seemed to plump my buds. Good luck

OOOPS!

Hopefully not all that big of a deal, but I overwatered a bit today with my nute mix. I never use full strength nutes, and the girl isn't showing any horrible side-effecs, so hopefully nothing major will go wrong.

Heh . . . this baby has grown in spite of me, if anything. In fact, after I overwatered it, I went back an hour or so later and all the excess in the tray had been sucked up into the soil.

Watered the girl yesterday. She is looking mighty fine.

Mixed up a new batch of CO2 stuff for my homemade generator and placed it back in the box.

Heading into the 2nd week of 12/12.

Hi! on a 10 scale...how would you rate the nirvana white widow for odor? When did it start smelling?

thanks!
Interestingly, it does not have an overwhelming odor. Could be because I have it in a grow tent, I suppose, but even today, when I opened the tent to feed her, the odor wasn't overwhelming and it smelled more like citrus fruit than anything else. It is, however, definitely looking like MJ should look. Pics to come . . .

AAAAANNNNNNDDD . . .

Here is Alexandra today!

I gave her 1/2 gal of nute mix this morning pH balanced to 6.0. I am using Roots Organics Buddha Bloom at about 2/3rds of the recommended strength for mature flowering plants.

I just got back from a vacation to mexico and was worried that my GF would do something to disrupt Alexandra's growth. She actually came through quite well for me! Even SHE was worried that she had screwed something up! LOL

When I checked her the other night, I was floored to see the lovely buds with crystals coating the bud and leaves. The main cola is getting really great light.

I pulled some brown and dead leaves off of her this morning as well, leaving them on the soil surface allowing them to decompose and sink into the soil. fun fun FUN!!!

My fingers still have the citrus smell on them and I think I'll enjoy sniffing them for the next few hours! ;-)
