White widow auto - is it ready or far beyond!?

Hi all,

Sorry - incoming noob post. Never grown anything in my life, so this has all been a bit of a lesson for me. I have a White Widow Auto (Ministry of cannabis) which is now into it's 12th week. Growing it indoors in a grow tent, with a 1000w LED light. According to the site where I got them (a reputable site) it should be 9 - 10 weeks but at that stage, the pistils had only just started showing. I did run into some issues along the way, mostly after re-potting her into a larger container.

I've no idea if I'm early, late or what's going on. All I know is there hasn't been much size development in the last week or so. I DO own a hand-held microscope but find it near impossible to actually examine the plant as it requires a really steady hand (which I aint got). From the pictures, can anyone tell me how early / late this plant is and roughly the kind of timings I'd be looking at from the current state?

Cheers, and sorry for the noob post. I'm still learning. (I should have training wheels)

Thanks for the reply - I've seen some reports of this going to 16 weeks in grow diaries, so you could be spot on. She's had a few issues along the way, so I think some set-back time has been included but literally no idea what I'm looking at and no real basis for comparison.

When the white pistols stop reaching out it is time to start checking trichomes on your buds. Do this on buds, not leaves. Get a jewelers loop or better a cheap USB microscope. This is what you look for.trichomes.pngwhen to harvest by trichomes.pngTrichome ripeness.jpgPot ready not ready.jpg

Thanks guys - I've ordered a better handheld microscope which I can view on a screen. This should help me identify when I need to get moving.

Appreciate the posts, cheers.

Im pretty sure for that one it's 9-10 weeks from flower not from seed so the first day you seen a good cluster of pistol hairs then count that as day one of flower your probably only actually like week 3 of flower give another 6-7 weeks.

9th August was when first substantial pistols appeared which would make it in to week 5 if that's correct. Have to say it does look about right with the timings.

Edit: Yeah, you're totally right and I'm an idiot. Wishful thinking that it would go from seedling to harvest in 9 - 10 weeks. The site where I bought the seeds does indeed say 'flowering time' and not 'growing time'. Learning every day! :D
