hey guys

i got a nice white russian at about 6weeks into flower. growing in coco. using a/b flowering nutes as well as P/k 13/14 (Bumped up to 2ml per Ltr this week) and also canna boost (4ml per Ltr this week). anyways they are looking good. i have noticed some brown spots on only a few leaves but im thinking this is due to upping the boost & PK?

my question is this.

i have been using a product that i am assuming is a microbe and beneficial stimulant. it says it "root stimulation" and "increased cell division".

iv been casually following a grower on youtube called weedwizard who has a grow log of his white russian. i think he mentioned that microbes and beneficial stimulants are not really needed towards the end of flowering? i have no idea and i could have misheard him? so I'm wondering if i should go to the shop and get some more coz i ran out. lol

They generally aren't needed as much in mature, healthy, root systems like you have in late bloom. Small or sick roots are more susceptible to root rot. If you want to save money you will probably be fine. Maybe stop running bennies and just see if you get slimed. If you do get slimed, act quickly, and at least you're close to harvest.

microbe stuff is BS in hydro. Ain't no microbes in a nitrate based hydroponic solution. No need to convert NH3 to NO3- when it all starts as NO3-. How are NH3 eating bacteria supposed to live without NH3 anyway?

The bennies are there to prevent root disease. For many people, if you don't run bennies or sterilizers, anaerobic bacteria begins to bloom and will slime your whole res. By innoculating the res with a diverse population of thousands of species of good bacteria and fungi, no single species is able to get a foothold and take over the res, and so your water stays clean.

They also break down organic material that might enter the res such as bits of root and leaf etc. You are correct in that they aren't needed to break down synthetic nutes.

Hey thanks for the info. Ill try it without them and see how I go. How do I tell if I get slimed tho? Keep in mind im handwatering with Canna Coca Coir.

You would see slime globs begin to form on the roots. A small biofilm at the root tips is ok.

But sounds like you are growing in coco, so root rot shouldn't even be an issue.
