White Rhino Closet Grow

I just received 10 feminized White Rhino seeds for x-mas (Yeah I know; it's a bit late but it's the thought that counts). I am about to drop 2 of them in water today. If you follow my other journals you'll see I try to update daily with pics.
So this is the packaging it arrived in, definitely not as protective as DNA’s packaging.






Oh no, 9 out of 10 seeds were crushed. I wonder if that happens when the seeds are noticed during shipping scans. If Nirvana used little vials like DNA this could never happen. I guess now I am only going to grow 1, if it even makes it.

My closet is 2dx8lx7h ft which is split up 3 sections.

The veg box is ca 3dx2wx3h and has 3x 27W daylight CFL with 8" clamp light reflectors. I generally use 24h for vegging.

The top of the box is lit by a single 150W HPS on 12/12. I usually grow a tiny SOG type setup to hold me over with bud between big harvests.

My main flowering area with bigger plants is 2dx4wx6.5h. That area is lit by a custom dual 150W reflector. I make all my reflectors from old PC side panels until I can afford better equipment.

I start them in 5x5 inch pots and then 9.6x11 inch 3.1gal pots for flowering. For soil I use MG Organic Choice at a 1/3 ratio perlite/potting mix.

The whole room is cooled by 18" oscillating fan and a 190CFM inline fan with a 16" Mountain Air carbon filter intake. the veg box has a 120mm 12v intake fan but most of the air is actually pulled in by the exhaust which minimizes odor problems. Right now I have 3 almost 4' tall Sour Diesel and I can keep the odor under control with 1 vanilla air freshener thanks to that configuration.

I am trying to grow shorter plants around 24 inches tall at finish. I am hoping that they can be sustained by the nutrients in the mix alone, supplemented by foliar feeding and possibly molasses, which I am still reading up on.

Well cross your fingers and wish me luck this one survives. I've had my eye on this strain for a long time and was extremely excited about my surprise gift. It's safe to say I will never order Nirvana seeds.

Ah man thats bogus the seeds were crushed, Email nirvana and send them a pic of the seeds, Just have your friend forward you the confirmation email and im sure they will re'send some more seeds.

I don't think she bought them online, probably just some smoke shop in Europe.

Ah, all you need is one my friend anyway.

I am sure the one will sprout for you and then you can take clones later.

If it is White Rhino, one is definately all you need as that is one great Strain and in all honesty, does not get much more medicinal out of Holland.

I really hope this one is OK. If she is I'll call her Nemo. I rolled her between my fingers and she didn't crack, so that's a good sign at least. I am about to take her out of the water and put her between some wet napkins, always works good for me.

It just takes a few weeks longer to get started.

I don't think she's gonna make it. The seed still hasn't split and it's been 2 days now. I guess I'll give it another 2 or 3 days then we know it's a dud. Who else besides Nirvana has White Rhino?

Greenhouse seeds and cannaseeds both have them.
If the seed was still intact I am surprised it didnt germinate. Is the towel moist and warm? should be between 70 and 80°

Yeah I have it sandwiched under my living room amp. It's perfect for that, my last seeds popped within 24-32 hours. I had the seed in water for a day before starting it in between the paper towels. Was the seed float or sink? I thought I remembered my Lemon Skunk seeds sinking, but this one floated the whole time.

If thats the case then it sounds like water can not get inside the shell.
Before you toss it get some sand paper or emery board and scuff up the edges a bit and drop it in water again. give it about an hour, When it sinks try again.

Weird, the seed sank right away, gonna put her right back in the paper towels.

She should sprout within 48 hours.

IT'S ALIIIIIIIIVE!

She decided to to split her shell today and was immediately planted in a 3.1 gal container.

I am starting to think she's not gonna make it. I only planted her 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch deep and nothing has happened yet. I checked to see if the soil was too compacted and scraped ca 1/4 off the top and it seemed fine and moist, but it might actually be too cool in the veg box :/ I need to build a clone area anyway so I'll use that for starting seedlings too.

I am thinking of trying to get a new batch of seeds but I would like to stay away from Nirvana this time.

Can anybody recommend a different White Rhino breeder?

keep her warm by setting her on the top of the fridge or something warm like that.
Sprouts do best between temps of 72 to 80° be carefull 85 will kill them.

$50, I think I can swing that in a week or so. I pretty much gave up on the other one, really don't think she's gonna make it.
How long should I wait before giving up?

thats unfortunate they got crushed dang :/. i have some rhino seeds but im gonna wait till i can plant them outside... gonna cross it with nirvana ak-48. which a friend is gonna do. (i got his plants started till he gets his box done. this wedsday). i went through attitude... shipped with sweets. the custums package said it was a wallet and candy) they were a small pack of smarties. no sure what good the extra dollar was but it got here
