As an exercise in irony replace the word 'story' with 'war in Iraq' and 'reporter' with 'president'...it then reads as follows:

I can see why the White House would object to the NYT article as I seriously resent being lied to about the need for the war in Iraq. Even more than being lied too, I dislike the image of Bush preening about in his flight suit on the deck of an Air craft carrier with a "mission accomplished" banner in the background...if I am not mistaken that was about 4000 US service member lives ago when major combat operations were declared as being "over" and Bush and Cheney were busy back slapping each other about their "victory".
