White furry seedling stems - is this normal???

My knowledge is questionable hahah , however I can say ive gone from seed to harvest , in multiple growing mediums all at once. started from scratch with a bag of shitty hermie seeds and brunnings potting mix. oh the days :D . best advice I can offer is have fun , keep asking dumb questions and listen to the answers , even some of the less tolerable members , hahah :) good genetics from the start help , no nutrients till your growing noticeably every day. and flush every 2-3 feeds of fertiliser.

if your having trouble with any terms iv stated just keep reading through noobie section or use the search button :D happy gardening.

Seeing that the idea it's upside has been thrown around a bit now, say it is and I sprayed it with a peroxide mixture - what would happen to the seedling?

I will second the advice about preparing for a grow though. You gotta read a little at least and know what to expect especially if you are going stealth which you probably are here in Oz.

Good that your partner is on board. I only recently showed my outdoor plant to mine.

Hahah yeah my partner and I have been spending a wee bit of time at bunnings looking at lights and soils! We actual made our own growing box with a light screwed into the roof from the materials from bunnings.. Any tips in what directions to look for "sterile environment for growing"? Don't know what we are doing with the mini green house and the seedlings is acceptable anymore :(

We don't know what we are growing actually :/ A mate of mine just asked me if I wanted her seeds that she picked put and I said yes so we honestly have no clue what we are in for - we would like to find someone who grows and have females to be certain of our outcome.

For now we are attempting to grow in a mini green house with these jiffy easy peat pellets and when they have matured a bit move them into this wooden box with a fixed light that my partner has made.

Haha. I spent ages at Bunnings looking for shit to grow with. Ended up using regular CFLs in a bedside table for a grow that nearly finished. Now I'm outdoors but will need to go back indoors when the winter comes.

Just keep all your equipment and grow area clean. Cleaner than you would think garden stuff should be but not quite homebrew sterile unless you want to be sure.

Awesome sauce, thank you :) How did the partner take it by the way? We live in a town house in a complex so we are still trying to figure out how we are to go about growing indoors until we find a new house with a backyard and buy a shed and try to take it from there :)

I started in the shed in complete secret about 1 1/2 years ago. Advice here was not to grow unless everyone in the house knows. This was not an option at the time. I succeeded to harvest without telling but my second grow went bad so I had to move it outdoors to keep it alive. It was behind a shed for a while but it had to come out for more light. By then the wife had heard a whole lot of education from me about cannabis health benefits do she was probably expecting something. One day I just showed her. She was a little shocked but then it was all good. She did ask what I was going to do with it in the end which is another conversation all together.

Here's hoping it will be legal by then, but who knows.

To your question, I would say read some grow journals or full grow posts to get an idea of what to expect from people who have done something you plan to do. My first grow was in a PC case that changed to a bedside table. Smell is a biggie and I would not take a chance going to flower without good odour control. There are a good deal of diy odour control threads and I know of an Australian product that is just like Ona odour gel.

I'm in the country so neighbours seeing or finding out is less of a problem than in a close set of houses although I still need to be wary.

If you are handy with making shit you are sorted and can learn anything.

I don't know why all of these people would tell you to spray these with peroxide. Did you guys even look at the photo?

OP, don't spray those with peroxide. It's so obvious that these are germinated upside down. Your cotyledons are inside the rockwool man. That white fuzzy pointy tip is the tap root.

EDIT: Sorry, I just noticed you already figured that out OP.

Let this be a lesson. DO NOT listen to everyone on an internet forum. This place consist of 80% horrible advice, 15% decent advice, and 5% great advice.

I only said it looked upside down because of the purple hues and thicker section toward the bottom of the brick , the fact that the skyward section was limp and white gave me considerable evidence to conclude my assumption

as plants like to grow, its best to have a light that you can adjust daily to within 25-55-mm of the plant tips
many Aussies are now growing in those shitty tin garden sheds you can get for $200+
avoid using the tin roof and use a sheet of that see threw corrugated plastic does well,
and cut a hole for venting with an insect mesh to keep bugs out
now the solstice has passed lights will be required to keep any plants in veg
