I'm not the one you asked, but in my own DIY LED cabinet setup, I previously noticed that the leaves closest to the blue diodes looked less healthy. They may have been a bit close, but the distance was okay for all the other diodes. I replaced them with cool whites, and I no longer get an unhealthy section underneath.In any case, EH, if you don't mind, what kind of improvements did you see as you removed blue chips and went with whites?
I think it would be less of a problem for larger, higher-powered setups where you expect to have the panels a bit further away. I was flowering with about 30W of actual LED draw, so I was keeping the panels pretty close.
EDIT: the blues I was using were 470nm XP-E, so not nearly as efficient as the newer royal blues. The higher efficiency both makes them more appealing, and more dangerous if they get too close.
