Which side of a seed is the top

The pointy side is actually up. If the seed were to free fall it would land most likely flat side down. The reason I say point up is the tap root makes a u turn as it sprouts. As it comes out of the dirt it pulls the shell off.


Now that being said, I tend to just poke a hole and throw them in. On rare, very rare occasions, when they were wrong it caused them to kind of spin in the hole. Creates a spiral of a root tap.

Pointy side up then ? Thanks guys the reason I ask is because I put the pointy side down on one of my seeds and it grew retardedly in my cloner, it had a ton of roots but never surfaced and it died. I figured I put it in upside down because the other one I put pointy side up and it popped.

I always soak in a shot glass for 24 hrs then plant root down. It seems that the root always comes out of pointy end.
