Which part of my 400 watt HPS light is broken?? + rep

So I have a 400 watt HPS grow light that is killing me.:wall: It runs on an electronic ballast and has been working well for a few months. Now when I plug it in, the bulb glows for around one second and then turns off. It doesn't fully fire up, but it tries to warm up. This happens every time. Any similar experiences and advice on what exactly needs to be replaced would be awesome. Its not the bulb, I've tried more than one with the same result. Ask any questions you'd like and thanks:leaf:

did you let it sit? or did you just turn it off by accident?...if you just did it by accident give it a few minutes and it will work again perfectly

This problem has been ongoing, like a week and a half now so I'm pretty sure its something wrong with the hardware

I just moved it to another outlet and no luck, but that was a good idea. Im guessing ballast, but could it be the socket the bulb screws in to?

Buy a bulb (even a cheap one at that), and replace the bulb. If that does not work then you know the ballast needs to be replaced. ftw!

sounds to me like a starter or capacitor. if it it a standard magnetic ballast, pic of ballast would help:joint:
