ok I'm use to grow my plants with soil but it's always turn out awfu so do you think hydro is much mre easier for me to grow:weed:

if soil turns out awful (and it supposed to be the most forgiving)then hydro will not be much better get better with.im experimenting with hydro now its not like you can put it a net cup and it grows u need meters(ph,tds) and those are pretty pricey

Hi,

For beginners, soil is easier to grow with. As mentioned, it is more forgiving, giving you a larger margin of error to make mistakes. However, once you are skilled enough, hydro becomes easier due to the greater control you can exert over different factors (ie nutrient level, ph control, etc).

Also, hydro cost a lot more if you plan on doing things properly.

Im getting ready to start growing here soon and was planning on growing hydro till i figured i would want to get soil down perfect adn then build up to hydro. hydro leaves you with so many chances and yes is easy but i believe after you got the whole growing concept down.once you get a good couple crops from soil then move to hydro. that was the advice given to me....

Opposite for me I was introduced to hydro many years ago and it was like second nature at the time because I was coming out of college with a bachelor's in clinical laboratory science. Now I have been doing soil and believe it or not just playing with soil seems more natural. All I can say is there is no wrong or right way in terms of medium you wish to choose. Just experiment with this and that until you feel what is right for you.

WELL YES THAT IS TRUE BUT BASICALLY ALL YOU HAVE TO HAVE IS DISCIPLINE AND MONEY FOR THE SOLUTION YOU GROW THE PLANT WITH..HYDRO SEEMS EASIER IF U HAVE A BUDGET TO SPEND..ALSO MAKES A GREAT SMOKE:joint:

While its true that hydro does grow much faster than soil, it is harder to get everything working like its supposed to. I just got sick of the waiting for soil plants to get big. Hydro for me was like "DING" welcome to the real world! My hydro grows are exponentially better than my soil grows were, probably due in large part to top notch equipment and nutes. I actually find it easier with Hydro, because you can make a change and in a couple days see results, with soil theres always the dreaded week to 10 day wait to see if what you did had any effect. Also hydro is easier to have control over all aspects, from fertilizer to PH, and temps, also there is no way to "Overwater".

Hydro does have disadvantages, if you have a pump go out on you you have little time to rectify the situation or say good bye to the plants. Cleanup on the nute/res tank takes longer and can be kind of nasty. More apt to develop root problems with Hydro too, unless you have a H2O2 regimen setup. Many more things to check and things that can go wrong. You must be very careful with nutes, theres liitle room for error, too much and you fucked it up, at least with dirt you can flush, with hydro you gotta change out the res, which with a big 50 gallon one might take some time.

Soil makes a better tasting smoke, is much more tolerant of mistakes and is "Dirt" Cheap too. Also much easier for noobies to get their feet wet with soil. Hydro grows plants faster for sure, at least in veg, flower takes the same amount of time in my experience.

For a noobie starting out soil is the way to go, Fox Farms Ocean Forest (FFOF) soil works very well and no nutes needed for the first month or so. So if you can pour water on some dirt once in a while, you should be able to get a harvest.

Agreed. I'm on my first grow for both. Soil is far easier. Plants grow far faster in veg anyway.

Yep, my hydro plants were as big as some 1 month old soil plants at about 2 weeks. So as far as growth goes, you get alot more, quicker.
