i agree i wanted to start hydro first until i realized how much i was spending and said ill just do soil for now..Hi,
etc).
Also, hydro cost a lot more if you plan on doing things properly.

Agreed. I'm on my first grow for both. Soil is far easier. Plants grow far faster in veg anyway. While its true that hydro does grow much faster than soil, it is harder to get everything working like its supposed to. I just got sick of the waiting for soil plants to get big. Hydro for me was like "DING" welcome to the real world! My hydro grows are exponentially better than my soil grows were, probably due in large part to top notch equipment and nutes. I actually find it easier with Hydro, because you can make a change and in a couple days see results, with soil theres always the dreaded week to 10 day wait to see if what you did had any effect. Also hydro is easier to have control over all aspects, from fertilizer to PH, and temps, also there is no way to "Overwater".
Hydro does have disadvantages, if you have a pump go out on you you have little time to rectify the situation or say good bye to the plants. Cleanup on the nute/res tank takes longer and can be kind of nasty. More apt to develop root problems with Hydro too, unless you have a H2O2 regimen setup. Many more things to check and things that can go wrong. You must be very careful with nutes, theres liitle room for error, too much and you fucked it up, at least with dirt you can flush, with hydro you gotta change out the res, which with a big 50 gallon one might take some time.
Soil makes a better tasting smoke, is much more tolerant of mistakes and is "Dirt" Cheap too. Also much easier for noobies to get their feet wet with soil. Hydro grows plants faster for sure, at least in veg, flower takes the same amount of time in my experience.
For a noobie starting out soil is the way to go, Fox Farms Ocean Forest (FFOF) soil works very well and no nutes needed for the first month or so. So if you can pour water on some dirt once in a while, you should be able to get a harvest.
