Which lighting source should i use???

HEY ALL, i was doing a bit of research on which types of lighting 2 use...
All i know is that METAL HALIDE gives off the BLUE spectrum needed for the vegetative growth and HPS gives off the Orange/RED spectrum...
I was reading that growing with just the hps light makes ur plant grow tall and lanky.........
I was wondering do I invest in a conversion light kit??? or would a halide bulb work in a hps ballast and socket? vise <versa

yeah sorry its not a conversion light kit its called dual spectrum lights, but i head that the ballasts are too high power to run the metal halide bulb and that they die very faast..... Which light should i USE ????

i would just start with a floro 6500K light for germ and veg. then switch to the hps for flowering.
