which light to buy 2 choices

the 315w CMH have proven to put down bigger yield and better quality than a 400w hps. Its been said it is comparable to a 600w hps even. I am currently testing this theory with a grow journal. running 630cmh in a 4x4. It may be a little more expensive than the 400w hps. But trust me when I say you will get the best results with a 315w cmh than any other stand alone light at compable wattage. Runs cool. full spectrum. Great footprint.
 
If I had both I'd use the open 400w in winter, the air cooled 250w in summer.
Are you anticipating trouble keeping it cool? Do you have high background temps?

Go 400 I got 3x3 tent 600 watt hps air cooled in having trouble keeping temps higher then 68 cold wintersss

I think the 400 and a led would work great.
I was thinking maybe trying a small scrog grow.
I have 2 8ball kush from barneys seeds that just sprouted.

Led gives off no heat I got a viperspectra 600 watt real watt 270 and the 600 watt tryin to go big if u got 200 bucks extra the led and the 400 will give u very impressive results mayneeee get it !!! Xmas lights my g

Love barneys seeds had red diseal from them back in the day that was fuego
 
Barney's is fine if all you want is fem seeds that I don't want. About 8 years back a forum buddy from Texas sent me a cross he made with LSD and Blueberry from Barney's he called Lonestar Blue Heaven. Still one of my favourites. Can't do that easily with fems.

I lost touch with him when he moved to Denver. Still miss @Oldgrowerdude.

I second your choice for going with 400w hps and led. I had impressive and amazing results running a 400w hps with eye hortilux bulb and a 450w viparspectra ( 200w actual draw). I was yielding about 4ozs a plant. Each plant took up a 2x2 area. So I came up with about a 1lb in my 4x4 tent. Nice thing is it also puts out fairly little heat. I was able to run these lights during the entire summer and was able to keep temps at 80 degree with just one 4 inch inline fan for exhaust.
