Which is the lesser of 2 evils

I am having some one come here to help me with my small home based business. I have 2 choices for my girl. Leave the light off and keep the door shut for around 4 hours or keep the light on and the door shut with no fresh air or fan.

I kinda want to go with the no light option. She is smack dab in the middle of flowering, I have between 3 and 4 weeks left.

NO WAY!!! if the lights are on now then just shut the door plants can withstand dry air for a period of time! however if its in flowering and u cut the lights of for 4 hours ur asking for trouble! theres a chance that she can hermie on you and im sure u dont want that! if u have a little portable fan just stick it in the closet and shut the door ull be good

yeh man , wanna aviod herms and reverting back as much as possible. Ud feel like an ass if after all this ur smoke is less than satisfactory

I don't think it matters either way from the plant's perspective - too much light is your worry, not too little. I think whatever gives you the stealthiest situation would be best.

I'm tending to agree, but what kind of space/setup are you talking about? What could the temperatures hit?
You can reduce any stress by spraying down the area with water to raise humidity temporarily, and also by raising the light.. Just don't spray the plant areas getting bombarded by HID, the droplets act like magnifying glasses, and your leaves act like ants..

If you can leave the door shut and the light on without incurring high temps(90+), then that would be the better option. Disturbing the light period should be avoided.

It is a small closet with 400w HPS. The bush has pretty much taken over the whole thing.

Dont know exactly what the temp gets in there but its pretty darn hot.

i agree with this and technically it would not be a hermi but an intersexed female plant whos pollen quite possibly could produce fem seed. a hermi is a plant that has both sexes from the start so if your plant does not show balls and hair within the first 2 weeks of flowering then its not a hermie, if your on your 4th week and you stress your plant then it grows palls its not a hermi but a female trying all it can to do what it is supposed to and make seed.................female+ female= fem seed...... hermie= hermie seed male+male= homo..........


so if you put it in the dark it at worst will grow one or 2 sets of balls and give you some seed for next grow, it will not produce millions of pollen sacs and destroy your whole grow

You should know what the temps in there are. You can get a temp/humidity meter that records high & low for a 24 hour period as well as current temp & humidity for $8.00 at Wallmart. It runs on a battery and works great. They are near all the thermometers near the garden center. I have one in each room and I love them. Truly a great tool that no grower should be without.

If you have some cfls, just have them going to let the plant know its still daylight if you think it could peak 110°F or so then I'd worry a bit about the hps..
