which is better for new beginners.

So I was thinking which is better for new beginners soil grow or hydroponics..?

I'm growing in soil right now on my fourth week and it's not what I thought it was going to be I'm thinking of changing to hydroponics.

If there's alot of good answers on it

Is it cheaper then soil grow ?
Better yields?
So many ?

I reckon soil, too many things involved with hydro if you starting out, things get confusing if you have no experience, I would like to change over to hydro or aero, to give it a try, seems easy to build but gets complicated when using nutes and watering schedules and such things, and my brain don't function too well on the best of day's. But now that I know more about how the plant grows I reckon I will be more confident on hydro.

I was thinking maybe I'd be a better hydro grower instead that was my intentions when I first started to get into growing I researched hydro more then soil but only had the money for soil grow now.
I'm leaning on the other hah...

depends... if you have enough brain cells left to read up on it before you start. Im sure you could do either lol

The reason I started in soil were the same, cheaper and I wasn't sure if I would be able to do it or if it would interest me, so I wasn't going to build a whole system and then give up for whatever reason. I also did a lot of reading into hydro and really want to do it that way soon.

Well I found a already made hydro ponics system on Amazon for cheap so I just might do it instead of soil I wanted a quicker grow

Well if you do let's keep in touch and let see how you doing on it I'll be changing this next couple of weeks once it ships.
nevyn are you using a grow box tent etc.? If so was it cheap or did you make your own ?

Yeah I bought a tent, at the moment I am using 2 x 85w cfl on five plants, they growing slowly but they growing, using pots at the moment, also the problem for me is getting stuff like this in South Africa is difficult, and expensive. Tent was a good buy for me cost me around $160 and it helped alot. But yeah when you get your hydro stuff post pic's I would be very interested to see it. I will have to build one, I can't afford a ready made one sadly.

Actually I think I am going to start building one today, you have motivated me, going to take me a few weeks though. I will subscribe to this thread and keep my eye on it if you going to post here or send me the thread you going to post on.

Yeah the nutes thing is another problem, we don't get the brands you get, but the dude I got my tent from sent me some nutes, he screwed up my order a little so I got them for free, he knew what I was growing and they seem to work. He said it's based on the GHE (I think it's GHE) range and I should use the mixing chart they have so...

I'm just finishing up my first aeroponic grow and I don't think I will ever go back to soil again except for outdoors. The amount of control you get is incredible - you see plants respond almost immediately to environmental and feeding changes . But that also means that negative changes happen almost immediately as well. I have friends that grow in soil and they, especially right now with the holidays, take of for 3-4 days at a time and just leave their lights on timer and all is good. You cannot do that with aeroponics (unless you can afford one of those really spendy environmental controllers that notifies you by phone of every little change) even if everything is on timers because if something goes wrong (ie pump goes out) your plants could be dead in the matter of hours.

But in some ways hydro is easier once you learn the basics of it. You always know exactly how much your plants are drinking/eating, see how they react to diet changes, no such thing as overwatering (it's the name of the game here, lol) and the increased rate of grow of course. All the things you have to consider with hydro may seem overwhelming at first, but once you get into it they just become routine. Good luck.
