Which fan should I buy?

I'm running 2 x 600W and want to buy a fan to blow over the canopy. Which of these 2 fans would you buy?

Hurricane Super 8 16" black with figure 8 oscillation function $60.00 1 year warranty Also considering the pedestal floor model for $50 on the same page.
New Air 18" ceiling / wall mount with no oscillation $71 1 year warranty

I'm leaning towards the new air fan. I can mount it to my ceiling in the basement grow room and point it directly at the center of the canopy. Thoughts?
I'd personally want oscillation so it's not direct wind. Rather sweep the canopy so it air spreads evenly.

It best have a long cord, most don't. Oscillating is best.

I recently bought a 16" wall mount fan that I wanted plugged into my timer outlet to only operate when the lights are on but that doesn't work. When the power is cut to the fan you have to manually push the power button to get it to turn on. I have a 12" oscillating fan going 24/7 but wanted extra air movement across the canopy when the 600w light is on. Now I'm going to have to void my warranty by going into the controls and jumping the power switch so it's always on and should work off my timer. Should of known it was going to be trouble when I saw it came with a remote control. lol

Yup I just buy my fans from Walmart, cheap, manual oscillating I made a mistake and bought one with a remote never again!

I have no problem with cheap, but the Lasko I ordered for $35 from amazon was so poorly manufactured that the front of the grill didn't secure to the rear grill. It had some shitty locking tabs that are supposed to slide into a recess and it works like complete shit. I didn't even plug the fucking thing in because I couldn't get the front of the grill to properly seat into the rear. I would have just gotten 2 of wally world's cheap oscillating fans, but none of the cheap fans go higher than 48" which is shit. I either spend $50 per pedestal fan for a unit that extends to 55" and tie up precious floor space or I get a wall mount. I splurged the extra $10 to get both units wall mounted and off the floor with figure 8 oscillation. This is an updated model that has metal gears instead of cheap plastic gears. If either fan takes a shit I'll re order from Amazon and send the dud back as defective for refund.

I think $60/fan is excessive, but I'm in an "it is what it is" type of situation here. This effectively solves my problem with excellent functionality while preserving valuable floor space. I spent a good chunk of my harvest fund on equipment upgrades this cycle. 1000w phantom ballast, 4' 8 bulb T5, 1000w hortilux lamp, watering wand with pump, and new fans. Nothing out of pocket. Life is much easier with a water wand and pump. I highly recommend every grower get one.

I run several Lasko's for me they last years, come apart easily for cleaning and are cheap enough (never paid more than 22 for one) that I don't regret pitching them when they die. So far I've been lucky with them.

I have a pedestal fan I use in flower, maybe its better then trying out these chintzy clip jobs? It doesn't oscillate but its high powered and tilts 180 degrees.

Im having RH issues this winter, ranging 33% to 52%.....tried one humidifier, then two......tried a Lako clip on fan, tried a Genesis clip on....

wet 4 sponges and threw them on the table inside the tent where the fabric pots sit. Im north in NY, like 2 hours from Canada...cellar is a constant 59-60 degrees.

Plants are up from the ground 10 days.

All these clip on fans are shit. Lasko, Genesis, Vivosun
They recalled the vivosun clip ons because the teeth were being printed on the outside face of the clips  I heard from someone who bought in the last 3 months that his arrived perfect and still work so they might have handled their shit.

I agree and use stand fans

That's the exact model I ordered. It would have been great if the clam shell design for the front and rear grill to attach wasn't complete dog shit. When I first saw the design I thought disassembly would be easy for cleaning. When I actually attempted to put it together I realized I bought a piece of shit. I spent 15 minutes trying to get the clam shell on before I finally got it to stay attached - barely. I decided it wasn't for me. I use lasko box fans throughout my house, but this pedestal fan has a major design flaw that I don't wish to deal with long term. Disassembly for cleaning is once every 2 weeks which makes 26 cleanings per year. No way I'm fucking with that shitty clam shell design 26 times per year.

I am however happy to hear you got a model that works. I wasn't as lucky and had to spend more.

RH can be a bitch in winter to keep above 40%. You can try to put a speed controller on your exhaust fan for your tent like I did on my veg tent. I keep it down to 30% to keep airflow moving just barely. My humidity stays between 40-50% in the tent.

about 60% of my plants look healthy, that 40% I either tossed or still tryin......

I wonder if you just got a bad one? I can't blame you for your frustration over the experience. I'd be pretty pissed too. The fan I got that wouldn't work in the grow was a Pelonis. I call it my penis fan :fire:

I think you're spot on there. It's a mass produced item and just like any other mass produced product there will be "X" number of defects produced. My frustration just got the best of me. I buy the same pair of nike monarch IV every 6 months and have for the last 8 or 9 pair of shoes because they're cheap and comfortable. Now and then I'll get a pair that has a lump in the sole or some strange fitment issue that occurred in manufacturing. Maybe I'll try finding that fan at a retail store. I'll assemble the fucker right there inside the store before I pay for it. The older I get I care not what people think of me :) Time is always of the essence and I hate fucking in person retail returns.

I hung my lasko box fan securely to the ceiling of the flower room tilted down at a 45 degree angle blowing over the center of the canopy on medium. Works great. I'll probably only keep 1 of the hurricane fans amazon is sending out. I ordered a Blue Lab Truncheon meter also. Very tired of shitty unreliable PPM pens.
