Which Cree CXB for this driver?

Hi all. Thanks ahead of time for your feedback. I have an older led fixture with 16 cobs (some of which have failed) and I want to replace them with Cree CXBs. The drivers aren't a great match for Crees as far as I know... they are 550 mA constant current and voltage says 55 - 70v.

What would you recommend for such drivers? Is 550 mA too low for Cxb3070, Cxb3590, etc? I'd like to avoid replacing the drivers if possible. Cheers!

Matching Drivers and COBs
72v, 3590's will have very nice efficiency at 500mA. You need to look up the forward V of the cree cobs to determine how many would fit on the driver you mention.

But is the driver worth salvaging? You might research the efficiency of the driver youve got.

You could put one 36v cxb2530 (on sale at cutter for $10 usd) and one 18v and one 9v on each driver. That would be 63v approximately....

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, I was thinking cxb2530, maybe two in series with that driver? I'm worried about what the 55 - 70v means ... seems rather fishy. Also to be honest I have no idea about the efficiency of the driver. It's just a Houyi Chinese LED 16 x 75w = 1200w I got a few years back (actual draw was about 670 including the PC fans and what not) .... definitely won't go that route again given how many COBs failed.

Maybe I'll just follow the DIY guides on here and make my own rig...

Speaking of which, if I do, I have a small tent (2 x 4) that I'd like to use. What are your recs on covering a 2 x 4 space?
