So can anyone tell me what crosses made the original NL "who are NL parents"?... I see MR.NICE is using the same basic make-up for his Black Widow as the White Widow? do you guys see what I am getting at?

The original northern lights 1-9 are of undetermined backgrounds. One guy sprouted some seeds he had collected from a trip and the subsequent 9 plants, NL 1-9, were born. Some of these are similar but not necessarily related. Mr. Nice has the original White Widow but changed the name when he left GHS.

Sensi Seeds most likely has the best Northern Lights seeds, Nirvana's strain is actually called "Northern Light" (without the "s")... not much of a difference but if you check around/do some searches you'll find some who say that the strain was called Northern Light originally. Northern Lights #1-9 are mostly hybrids of other notorious strains. Nirvana claims to have selectively inbred their Northern Light for over 25 years; they have been around for a very long time, so it is possible. I can also vouch for their version, I grew one last year and used it purely as a mother plant to produce outdoor clones... it clones easy (and VERY fast, some root in around 3-4 days!), flowers around 9 weeks (just like Nirvana claims) and is actually some very potent stuff. I have grown strains from many breeders, I usually stick with Serious seeds, Reserva Privada and other high-grade breeders but I have grown many strains form Nirvana as well (AK48, Northern Light, Aurora Indica, etc.) and I was quite impressed... especially for the price. Every strain I grew from Nirvana was fire and they're decent all-rounders (decent yield, size, structure, node spacing, etc.)... bringing me to the conclusion that the people who knock on Nirvana all the time just because they offer better prices are most likely just mad because they can not grow as good as they would like to. Nirvana strains can be just as good as any others. (The same goes for the other cheaper brands like G13 Labs and Greenhouse Seed Co. ...I've grown some nice buds from every one of em.)

the best northern lights are made by Dr. Atomic, then Sensi/Homegrown fantaseeds, HGF having great f2's of sensi's NL for 1/3 the cost. i grew the hgf version last, smoked the sensi version first as my older bro grew it for close to 5 years and it is still one of the best smokes you can get if you grow it out right, straight pinesol nectar smell. overall, i'd say the sensi is the original, likely to be more stable and better bred but not knocking HGF version at all, just not the same in every way, a little more flowering time on the hgf (10 weeks instead of 8-9 you would expect). nirvana's Northern light is a good yielding strain, some pheno's can be very potent, much less stable as some plants hit like a wet noodle while others are the euphoric body stone/head high combo i remembered. you would have to grow about 5 regular seed 10 packs to get an excellent pheno of NL from nirvana though. the best was Dr. Atomics, colors all over the buds, covered in resin glands, moderate smell of sweet piney earthy buds, good yield and fast 7-9 week flower time.
