trying to choose between a lumatek 1000w digital ballast w sunspot 6' hood and hotilux hps for $500. Or Magnum XXL 6' hood with 1000w old school ballast and same bulb for $525.....im thinkin hoods arent much different and for $25 less I could try a digital ballast for first time.....what does everyone think?

I love my lumatek digital ballast. Would never have anything else. Get the one that is dimable. My 400 dims to 250 if temps get too high and that helps a lot. I would assume the 1000 dims to 600.
Check right here. Lots of options and I see the 1000 is 3 way dimable. Best prices I found. Good service.

I thought about a cool tube hood but went with a plain bat wing. I circulate a lot of air around it and the doors to the grow closet are open. If in a truly closed space, you for sure need a cool tube.

i rather go digital.. since you can dim them and they have the constant power draw....
