Where should I place carbon filter in room?

The guy at the hydro store said in the middle of the room, which sux because thats where all my plants are. ITs a big charcoal filter (6"). Im going to have the fan right on top of the filter, with it exhausting out through a wall.

I wanted to have my filter sittting on the floor, at the opposite end of my intake(which is just a window a/c unit). However, its going to have a wall about 5" from one side of the filter. The guy at the store said this is bad because the air needs to be sucked in all the way around the filter and it being close to a wall will prevent this.

If someone with experience in this could help, id be grateful.

Thanks!!

As close to the ceiling is the best place to put your filter
this will help suck out the hot smelly air that will build up in even a small grow room
also if you are using Co2 the Co2 will stay in the room longer as the gas is heaver than said hot smelly air
and if you are not using C02 ....WHY NOT ??
peace and GOOD LUCK!!

I dont know how im gonna hang it from my ceiling; its gotta weigh 80 lbs. How about opposite my intake, sitting up on a chair? I know it wont be as effective as being hooked on ceiling, but will it BE effective?

that's a heavy scrubber. it probably weighs 10-20lbs. are you sure it's 80?

you should be able to find a joist or support beam (stud finder) that you can put some eye hooks into and support it with cords.

as said in other comments, higher up and directly above your lights will pull the heat out faster than on the floor. If you keep it on the floor, you should have hoods that are vented by a separate system or you will have temps under your lamps higher than you want them.

any ideas how i can hang my carbon filter up high and vertically? i have a large room so space issnt a issue. just assking for ideas or if you have done something similiar. any input would be great. my house smells like cheese. i can smell it from my driveway. i have a booster fan sucking in fresh air and the carbon filter is blowing outside but its on the floor. thanks

i didnt read this when i posted last comment. so lets say i screw a 2 + 4 into the studs in the cieling then screw in eye hooks or clips. then use those straps thatnhave hooks on them. kinda like a bad ass bungee cord. thats my plan. any input/opinion is always welcomed. i love this site' every ones mature and cool as hell. wish the rest of the world was like this. what do u got in ur garden? im running daiiryqueen and chernobyl

keep it on the floor; it can't fall.
intake should be passive. active intake sucks in bugs and dust.
using hoods?
Ill be using the fan/filter combo for outtake air as well..
Using a split room t5 veg led flower central AC Venting intake into the veg and passive intake from there to the flower.
Outtake air from flower powered by hyperfan 6" with filter also...
So hang it down low to the ground..
Or set it on milk crate??
Still recomend filter down low..
I will try i suppose i shld have the space.

More info on this please :)

How many circulating fans do you have ? If the air is stirred up enough there will be minimum heat difference in the floor and ceiling, also 'stink".
