Where do I look for the Trichomes ??

Theres a lot of info on here about trichomes but no where does it tell you where too look. Im guessing its kind of obvious and its on the bud (calyx to be exact). But my plant is 6 weeks in flowering and i see white hairs everywhere but not the trichomes with the bulb on the end... The bud is also difficult to look at as the pistols are in the way of the microscope. How do people look at this properly???? Do they cut a bud off ?

What area of the plant do the trichomes develop, is it only on the calyx?? Are they also on the stem and leaf?

Thanks for your help
I know this may be a total newbie question.

there should be trics on your leaves as well as the buds.. i use a mic, but i just push it down so that its on the buds and not up off of it on the pistols if that makes sense.. at 6 weeks, you should be able to see the trics just fine if you have one of those lil handheld mic's which it sounds like you do.. just be careful and push the mic up against the buds and you'll see what you need to see with no problems..

Ya, sometimes those scopes are hard to hold the focus. Just do as stated above or sometimes I will cut alittle piece off and put it on a flat serface. It's easier for me that way

Some plants are easier to see them than on others. Certain plants I can see them with my naked eyes but others I use a magnifying glass.

Here is a picture of a Pandora's Box I grew not long ago. You can see the trichomes easily.

i push the micro up against a little leave sticking out of the bud or you can place your finger bhind the leaf then put the micro against it

Thanks guys. So i shouldn't be too afraid of squashing the bud then.
I will check those little leaves sticking out becuase its realy hard to get the mic right up in there where the calyx is.

DawgMountain, those trichomesare obvious! that give me a good indication of where to look too. thanks

Here's an NL#5 bud covered in trichomes. Here's a some closeups of said trichomes with a zorb microscope. Once you start getting trichs you'll know it and no amount of little white hairs will cover them up. I hope this gives you a better understanding of where trichomes are located.

Peace.

my trichomes (or lack of) look nothing like that. Im sure im is still a long way away from harvesting..

I forgot the mention that although i am 6 weeks into flowering, my plant is the sativa kind and i have heard it can take up to 16 weeks!

Thanks for clearing everything up for me

There's no harm in snipping a bit of trich-covered leaf off the bud; much easier to view when it's off the plant. I put mine on a piece of dark cloth to cut reflection and give a good background to view against. I also like to look at the trichs around the edges that stick out away from the leaf.
