Okay so I have been reading posts all morning but haven't really seen an answer to this, I am going to be using cfl's what light set up should I use though? For example I see people plug them in from hanging wires, where would I get those? Or anywhere else that I could get a contraption to plug a bunch of lights in? I don't want to get a shit ton of lamps ahaha.

Alright you can fit 6 cfls on y splitters directly onto a surge protector/ extension cord. 4 extension cords can fit in a square arrangement on a 2 foot piece of plywood. Everything zip tied to make sure a light bulb doesn't unplug....there you go its a homemade hood that hold 24 bulbs. Made for under 20 bucks you can then put aluminum siding around as a reflector.....that's what I use

You can also get some pretty damn powerful CFL bulbs on eBay if you have to space for them. I have a "600w equivalent" bulb that I use in my little clone/propagation cupboard and they fit into a standard socket.

So I am thinking of hanging the extension cords over some brackets I have in my closet, I know I can get the y adapter but what do I get to connect the bulb to the extension cord?

Par is redonculous let's stick to lumens, unless you actually have a fancy meter measuring photons...

Maybe some pics can give you an idea of what can be done.

He does do some top notch diy.... I think 23 watt bulbs have the best heat lumen ratio but I put 42 watt bulbs lower to give light to bottom bud sites

that is a frickin sweet light set up. after my current grow finishes I've got some plans for an upgrade to my hood. will post pics when I do it.

Why not get one giant 300w or more, dual spectrum, you can get the hood with twin holders, cool and cheap.Try:basement lighting co.uk.
I got bulb of 125w for £22 incl p+p and then ceramic holder and made hood, they destroy all your details after payment etc. They promise that! Get a 300w dual spectrum giant cfl bulb and your larfing for 3+ plants or 125w for one or clones etc.Easy!

Stick with 23-26 watt cfl's.Best Lumens per watt ratio. Use a t-12 or t-5 for side lighting. Bathroom vanity fixtures with 4-6 sockets are like 12 bucks at walmart. Use 2 or 3 of those with the Y socket splitter and you can have 6-12 bulbs per fixture, or even more depending onhow many Y adapters u use. i Currently have 23CFL's @23 watts each, a 2 bulb t-8 4 foot fixture, and a 12 watt led(off ebay just cuz it was 6 bucks, works good too). I am growing 2 autos, a Big Bang,Northern Lights, Sour Diesel, The Church and a White Widow, the 2 autos are almost finished, the BB and NL are 3 weeksinto flower, and the SD, WW, and church are still small and vegging. CFL's work good, lights placement is the h ard part. People say to keep em 1-2 inches but they put out alot of dead stale heat, i find 3-5 inches is much better. Use 5100-6500K for veg, 2700K for flower. Mix up the spectrum a little too, i threw in 3 4100K bulbs. my t-8n has 6500k and a growlux bulb.
