Ive learned you don't need to tie your plants to the small pots. Just crop and bend into the shapes you want. I use these small heavier pegs that hook onto branches creating the weight needed to hold them down. After a few days, I take them off, and the shape holds

Sometimes you can tape broken branches back together and they will heal. Like setting a cast on broken bones.
