When we try to "act not high" does it actually work or makes it even more obvious?

I remember this one time, back in the day, I got real cooked. I came walking out of this store with my friend, and as I crossed the street I saw this cop sitting there watching us. I thought to myself, "Just be calm, act normal,". Well I got so caught up in acting normal I wasn't watching where I was walking and stumbled into my pal. We both went down in a heap in the middle of the street. The cop flicked his lights on, and drove on right past to a call. I don't think he gave a shit for some reason.

I was going somewhere with that story, but I got lost.

I feel like you are just more aware that people are looking your way when you're high..makes you overly self aware if you're not used to it for sure.
It's kinda crazy how long you stay effected for..like if you have a few days off and have a proper big hit you get SMASHED! like near tripping lol. I'm sure it's because you're actually moderately affected for days but as it's decreasing gradually you think you're straight after just a few hours...kinda just get used to being somewhat high if you smoke up every day.
i.e. it's at least in part related to being experienced/used to it.
