got 2 nirvana lowryders that just germinated and sprouted about a week ago. i've always started photoperiod seeds under 24/0 until the flip to 12/12.

when should i flip these to 20/4?

any advice? thanks!

You don't even need to switch to 12/12. Its an autoflower, it flowers when its ready. You can keep on 20/4 the entire grow. Have heard its best to keep it on 20/4 to get the best results. That's what I'm keeping mine on after my seed is done germinating.

yeah, that's my question. they are at the first 4 leaf phase right now (about 1 week old). should i let them grow a bit more under 24/0 or switch now?

Mine is still in the seed phase, I haven't even planted mine yet lol but a lot of people recommend 20/4. I personally would switch now, but that's just me. Some night time is good for the plants. But don't go to the 12/12, it will decrease yield. (from what I have read as well)

i wasn't planning on 12/12. 24/0 and then 20/4.

i think i might wait until they get their first set of "real" leaves.

I do 24-0 in the winter to maintain perfect temperature. 20-4 or 19-5 in the summer. 4-5 hours sleep at the hottest part of the day. Some of the best auto's I've grown have been under 24-0. I reckon 24-0 is good for 80%-90% of auto's. I find one or two look a bit tired and need a dark period to get the best out of them.

doing some research online, most people seemed to think that the 20/4 or even 22/2 was best for autos. that brief bit of darkness really helps with their growth/overall health.

this is my first go round so i'll try a few different light cycles before it's over with.

I'm going to try 5 on 1 off in a small tent next round. that's 4 one hour dark periods every 24 hours

I tried that for 4 days and I didn't see any benefit. Switched back to 20/4 and they grew an inch in three days. Give it a go yourself and report back!

I was running 18-6, up to the 14 day mark, then heard of the 6-2 idea to stabilise temps, so i went 7-1, & yep all is good
