When to start " Fimming"

I fimmed my plants when they had about 4 or 5 true nodes and 4-6 inches tall. By "true" I mean not including the cotyledons or the first set that show when the seed pops. I did that and now, 5 weeks later, I have 8 plants 24'' tall with 6-10 colas per plant. I had never fimm'ed before and am a total fan now. After about 4-5 weeks I ended up "topping" the main apical meristem of the plant because it was all weird due
to the FIMM.
In other words, about 1-2 weeks into VEG and then let chill for 3-5 weeks before flipping.
