Well, make sure your buds aren't too moist. Object is to prevent mold, etc... while keeping the ooey-gooey!

Feel and you shall find. :O)

you need to let them dry about 5 days, they should feel lightly crispy not spongy like you would think. and open the jars 4 times a day for a bout 20 min.

let the stems almost snap..if you toss them in jars too soon the bud will have a spicy smell..you want them to be dry..I almost let them go a week.

spicy is one way to put it, lol. my last harvest i dried for like 3 days n then went straight to jars pretty much. I ended up with bud that smelled like damp basement, lol. It was still some of the best bud ive ever smoked, but it smelled like a basement thats been flooded, and then drained out. I think MUSTY would probably be a better word to use. BUT, then again i also probably chopped about a week or two too soon, so that could have contributed to the non dank smelling-ness.

Dry your buds on the branches for 5-7 days, until the stems snap but dont break. then into paper bags for 1 full - 2 full days, opening the bag up once or twice for a few minutes each day to sweat out any excess moisture. After that, into jars. Burp them bitches like was said ^^, 3-4 times a day. you dont need to leave them open for 20 minutes, just take the nugs out of the jar, rearrange them, and put them back in n seal it up.

it actually smelled like roast beef to me...you know the crap you get at the grocery store pre-cut...and it also fucked the color up too!!! since ive learned to let them dry out almost completely before I jar them..I also do a full wet-trim/manicure. never have had a grassy smell since.

Ive never done the paper bag thing..I live in a dry climate so its not necessary here i guess.

Anyone ever used something like this? It fits in a mason jar easy, it's 2" round. You would know what your humidity is inside the jar without having to open it up.

What do you think?

i've jarred quite a few plants now and this is what i do...
usually hang dry for 3 days

then the buds get trimmed off the stem and into a jar
ill close the jar and open it in about 6 hours .... by this time moisture is at the surface of the buds again.
so ill leave the jar open for 6-12 hours and check again ... if its dry on the outside again ill close it and check again in 12 hours.

repeat this for about a week and after that you can just check on em once a day or every other day.

by this time ill only open it up for a minute or a few seconds because the bud isnt damp any more

I just chopped and was trippin about this part too. Everything has said like 7 days should be good but the most sensible thing i read is that when the stem snaps your ready to cure. I live in a humid place so i figured id be drying for longer than most but within three days my stem was snapping so i said eff it an jarred em.
