When to lollipop?

Hi guys, from your experience when is the best time to lollipop your plants? They were flipped to 12/12 on the 1st of the month and I have always thought that now is about the time to do it but a friend of mine thinks that leaving it for a few weeks is probably best as the plant is still vegging and is likely to put the energy into creating new shoots rather than producing better buds. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Nice, thank you. The strain that I am growing has produced some very heavy duty lower branches so do you recommend leaving them on but trimming off all the small bud sites or cut them clean off? Thanks

If you had a veg period, then superstoner is correct. For a person growing 12/12 from seed, lollipopping usually happens as soon as they show sex. Even after lollipopping you can always get a popcorn bud developing, just pinch it off as soon as you see it.

Pinch off the popcorn, leave the leaves as they are providing energy to your plant.

I would go ahead and snip those lower branches all together so the plant focuses all it's energy on the tops.
You'll get some nice colas by doing that.

So am I right in saying that the lower branches (an inch thick) need to be snipped? These branches lead to bud sites that are at the same height as the top of the canopy. Thanks

No. If the branches are that big and reach the canopy then leave them. Take the little ones that you know will not make it.

Don't cut those big branches. If they've made it to canopy height, they've already used the energy stretching to direct light and won't waste any more. Only cut those if you have lots of plants and need to make space to squeeze a few more.

You should cut the little suckers off the bottom of those branches though (the branch's branches).

lollipop right when u switch to flower if ur plant is sexualy mature {has alternating internodes and good branching} if its not too branchy u can still take down the bottom 1/3rd or 1/4th of the plannt

Thanks guys. Do you think it's worth stripping off all the popcorn and chuff on the bottom half of all the branches to ensure the tops get the most nutes?

I have a fully reflective grow tent that is 8ft x 16ft and has 12 plants on dwc. I also have 6x 600w HPS. Do you think the plants will struggle for light if I leave them? I vegged them all for 4 weeks and are around 2 1/2 ft tall and bushy as hell. I imagine they will end up around 4 ft tall after then finish. I'm coming to the end of my first week in flower. Thanks guys.

Little bump please guys. Just wanting opinions in whether you think lollipop ping is necessary with the amount of space/light I have. Thank you
