I've grown in waterfarms for the last few years and to me it's best to flush a week (or less) before harvest. In fact 2 weeks before harvest I just feed straight water, topping off the reservoir rather, until the last week starts and then I flush and use straight water until harvest. In hydroponics the plant absorbs and uses nutrients faster than in soil so that's why you don't need to flush for an entire 2 weeks; in those 2 last weeks is when she packs on weight and she needs her nutrients. With soil I would flush for 2 weeks but never in hydro; 1 week is plenty; I've done grows where I flush just 4 days before harvest without any issues, specially if you use a cleaning agent such as FloraKleen from GH.
