When should I prune?

Hey all!

3 days into the 12\12 switch, just wondering when the optimal time would be to do my next pruning? Should I pick a few leaves each day, or do a bunch in one go? I want to clear out some of the lower leaves(lollipop them a bit) and mimimize stress. Thanks!

Looks good to me. Probably just prune of the scraggly, lower branches as you go, while the plants are stretching.

Got plenty of vertical space? Gonna get a lot taller in there.

Looking nice and healthy.

i would wait a bit and let them stretch out a few feet first.

Light not penetrating areas and getting to bud sites because of fan leaves? prune em
Air flow beneath canopy not sufficent? prune, we dont want any PM or mold creeping its way into the garden

I dont think theres A right or wrong way of when or when not too do it, ive watched some growers go crazy all through flower and have great results, others will say to not prune after the stretch is finished. Some do as you suggest and take a few leaves off as needed daily.

Then you have the ZOMG NEVER PRUNE crowd

I think i might fall into that crowd lol. I support other peoples choice to prune though.

Ya man, so many different ways to do things, im sorta like you, i do things the way that best suits me and my garden, but support others decisions in their methods

Its always a hot topic but not really sure why, ive seen Primo FIRE grown with and without pruning lol

Wait til their done stretch and then do your prune on the lower areas a day before or day of feeding with nutes. Its like giving your dog a haircut, they love you again sooner if you feed them.

Thanks! Yeah i have lots of space, 8 feet, so the stretch won't be an issue

Based off everyone's comments here, much like anything, it seems to all be personal preference...i think i'll let them stretch and then give them a prune

For me pruning is a constant, literally every day. Notice most the large sun leaves have been removed.

No bush dosent benefit from some light prunning, after a certain point some are just being stupid though and as with all weed sites that gets taken out of context and everyones trying to cut the max of everything like thats the way to larger yeilds.

If you had two identical plants you could prune one then not prune the other... probably realise it dosent really give extra yeilds and is a lot of hassle when you could just flower them earlier and use the stretch to let her fill out

Most... thats a couple of twigs with a few leaves......

not sure "when" but if you are interested in seeing my i believe after 1 week trim and how i trimmed them and how they turned out check out my grow journal. i say this because i tried something new might not be favored by everyone or most people but it was an interesting experience imo and the plants did better then i thought from how i trimmed them that specific way. i basically trimmed the shit out of them so they looked like sticks with bud sites. barely any fan leaves left after the trim.

i think there was a name for this method i am using but i forgot what it was called.

again this is just experimental idk how end result will turn out plus this is my first 100% indoor grow so i have nothing to really compare the plants to been doing outdoor grows or mix outdoor flower/indoor veg grows before.

I firmly believe whoever says pruning doesnt help has never properly pruned.
It does give extra yeilds. It allows you to manipulate branches giving you more tops. Were u refering to me being stupid for pruning to such an extent?

The second picture is 11 days later "but theyre just sticks with bud".

I could also show u the difference between two plants, ome that had been liightly pruned and one that has been heavily pruned. It does help trust me if done properly

No not aimed at you you just posted a picture of a twig at the same time....

Whatever your trying to convince me of is ridiculous if you prune back to twigs, its not just me saying it but a whole swathe of long term growers as we constantly here this extra yield methods that we for long time now all know about but arent doing because we yield more other ways.

Even now some guy with a SOG has yielded way more than you this year so i care not,

Are you calling us dumb?.... ffs

I feel hostility lol, they're only twigs when young the do grow and those twigs turn into trunks with huge colas.
Theres also lots of people that agree with heavy pruning.
SOG yeilded way more than me? What? How do you know any of this?
My last grow was 1.4g/w heavily pruned, most people struggle to hit a g/w.
Im taking pictures throughout this entire grow when the times right i will create a journal and this is just with coco and basic nutrients.
Ill create a 1.5g/w grow journal this year using rdwc and heavy pruning.
An seema like we're comparing techbiques which has been heavily discussed with lots of different opinions, not the basis of "do not heavily prune your plants".
Man i wish i had all my old photos to show.
Oh and i do not agree with removing every/too many leaves.

Sog is the best yeilder as you get the most grows possible in a year and increased plant numbers makes up for veg time lost to prunning - just been a long time fact but many try to spin it loke scrog and stuff yeilds waaay more over a year so hostility no.... wary of what peeps push here - yes lots

One other thing no growing technique is stupid if it suits the growers need

I would probably agree tbf with the right clones sog could be the most efficient technique to use. Mart i add there is no wrong technique its entirely dependant on the growers needs but we were kinda discussing efficiency there.
Sog/scrog hybrid also but i would include alot of pruning myself of course. With sog we're also pruning pretty much the entire plant, well i would lol.
