when seeds are germinated

Okay here's the deal. I'm moving early this summer to a 2 bedroom house that allows pets and I want to grow. My plan will be to get a grow tent and keep it in my closet and my clothes in the spare bedroom. It will be a 2x4x6.5 or a 4x4x6.5, depending on the size of the closet. I have all the items in my shopping cart at amazon, and the total is 539.05. that includes the tent, duct fan and carbon filter, ducting, humidity/temp monitor, 600 watt grow light and 5x 5 gallon smart pots.

Can I place my germinated seeds directly into pots and put them into the grow tent under my 600 watt hps light? I was planning on getting some el cheapo 3 inch pots from wal mart. Or do I need to get a germination tray and use CFL bulbs? I'm already pushing $600 to pay for this set up and I would rather not spend any more than I have to.

Also, any tips to save some $$$ on this?

why not ditch the tent and use the spare room to grow instead of using it as a walk in closet. would save you about a hundred bucks depending on the tent youre lookin at.

why buy a tent for a closet?

Yes in small pots and get some cfls for the first couple weeks then slowly harden them off to the 600w by placing them in the darkest part of the room slowly movingthem under the light which will be 3-4 foot above them.

Save yourself some money and got to home depot and get some mylar insulation to stick to the walls of your closet. Your only looking at about 6 plants tops in that amount of space. Your best bet would be to do 2-3 mothers in the closet and blow the spare room up. and sleep in the living room. 600 is also probably a little to much for that little amount of space. shoot for 4x4 tent if anything. and look on craigslist for tents. You can usually get them from $75-$125 .
