like I have just been hitting a nitrous balloon? I mean, I'm sitting there eyes closed, just counting my breaths trying to relax and it just keeps on feeling that way if not get stronger. This afternoon was an especially heavy feeling, could it possibly have been because I got high a few hours before and was still a little bit dazed(not much though)? Once I start noticing it, I think that maybe its because I might have my eye balls looking up but when I try to check I can't figure if my eyes are looking up or straight forward(because my eye lids are closed) but I'm pretty sure they're straight forward.

I haven't had a meditation session that lasted any longer than 20-25 minutes, I'm just starting, but whats up with that feeling that I'm having?! any ideas?!

yea man thats some good shit huh. iv been meditating for about 2 months now. Its your chi(life energy) that you release, the longer the meditation, the stronger release and flow through your body. Its the ultimate high, and its strong as fuck when im high. Let me put it this way, its like a old rusty hose(if it were metal?lol) that gets used, the longer its used, the stronger the flow. But when im high i can just go straight to the fosset and turn it on, the shit's intense. The main release spot is deep in the pevlis. Qigong is the art that strengthens and cultivates that chi. Look into it!

just focus on breathing deep in your stomach, as you exhale, try imagine a pushing down in the stomach, but the first thing you have to do is relax every muscle and sit with good posture. hope it helps, and the more you meditate, the stronger and quicker and you feel it.

I always try to sit upright in good posture but it seems like after a short while, I realize that I'm slouching.

Try to meditate sober, you will reach a block if you don't. I like to call what you are experiencing "expansion" for me it has to do with the dropping of the idea of "self" that occurs during meditation. Continue with your practice, don't try to figure it out or think about it. The answer will come to you suddenly, expansion followed by explosive collapse and return to my center is how I would describe my experience. Most people who continue past the point you are talking about become afraid and stop. It is like being on the edge of a cliff and leaning over, you either get scared or you jump. :peace:

I normally do do sober, and I think I learned yesterday that I liked it more sober, I really felt like I wasn't in the right state of mind to really calm all my thoughts and focus.

Learning to work with your mind creates the possibility of freedom from your past conditioning; to open up a space between stimulus and response, between reacting to a situation and responding to it.

yeah, I agree. I've really been trying though. It's much harder than I thought. As much I as try to ignore the thoughts that come into my head when I'm focusing on breathing, I do catch myself being caught up in the thought and thats when I readjust my focus to breathing.

can anybody help answer if its bad for me to straighten my posture when I notice that its become slouched? I feel like I should just realize it and not really act on it, but also I realize that posture is probably an important aspect. thoughts?

Try not to focus so much on your technique, but rather your experience. Allow thoughts to flow don't try to restrict them. If you relax and slouch a bit its no big deal. Just accept your surroundings and become the "silent watcher" of both your external and internal world. If you can do this the barriers between inner and outer will begin to fall and you will feel the "expansion" you are talking about. Buddha himself used the trunk of a tree to rest his back on. Feel free to meditate in a chair if it is more comfortable for you. :peace:

I've been reading a lot tonight and am please with the progress that I made this afternoon. I sat on the floor and put my back against my bed, with my legs crossed. After 15 minutes, I became distracted and got up and closed my room's door and window. I began again. I'm not sure how long (possibly ~15 minutes) I began to feel like I was dreaming. I now, cannot remember what it was that I was dreaming, but I'm pretty sure that while it was happening, I was somewhat aware. Every so often I would come back to being leaned against my bed but I was still counting breaths. When I came out of these sort of 'dreams' I was very confused and I feel like I had stopped myself from dreaming more because I was so confused.

I am weak

I read something today that said if you're trying too hard you may end up putting yourself in a dream like state, which is not really what you're supposed to be doing since the dream like state decreases awareness and meditation is helping you increase awareness.

I find that 20 minutes is my average time meditating. I get to a point that my brain isn't running in all directions constantly, but I still get sidetracked by a thought every once and a while. Most of the time, I maintain awareness of my breathing, but sometimes I will loose track, and find myself counting in the teens because a thought sidetracked me and I forgot to start at 1 after I got to 10.

does anybody have any thoughts on meditating while still on adderall? I mean, I take this stuff for school but it last until the evening after dinner and such. How much do you think it affects meditation? I realize it is an amp but it also helps me concentrate on work and what not.

yeah..I doubt it helps if not hinders meditation.

Meditate 100% sober, I'm sure taking amphetamines can really mess up a meditation session. Awareness is key and anything that hinders your ability to be aware of you own body, surroundings, thoughts, ect. Will prevent you from doing much else but sitting on the floor with your legs crossed. Good luck bro, What kind of techniques are you using in particular?
