I had one nearly dried out last week, dropped it in a jar of pretty wet pot, and it seemed to dry the bud quicker. The pack itself seemed to recharge itself.

"What about putting oxygen absorbing packets into the mason jars then vacuum sealing? Any thoughts,pros/ cons? I read a few posts about people doing this? Was curious what your opinion is on this? Thanks."
Oxygen is the second most influential next to light degrading your herb(keeping potency)..it should prevent that degradation and your bud will cure as normal except for terpenoids being created..so it can slightly harm the transformation of the flavor profile..or rather slow it..bud the bud itself will smooth out as normal..
But no on vac sealing....ever
Because the packs release moisture via some sort of water pack..I don't know how its stored..but the basic concept is salt absorbs moisture and water releases, now when the salt has absorbed all the moisture it can, its spent, it can no longer regulate the moisture..at the same time the water will evaporate slowly but surely, each time the jar opens it becomes less efficient...now you can bake Epson salt etc(just picked a random drying agent) and that will remove the collected moisture..it will also remove the moisture in the water membrane.....now you can hydrate the water and then the salt is useless...so you see because they operate through opposite mechanisms you can't "recharge" the "unit" as a whole

If you were trying to cure your herb to perfection, I would use boveda packs(I like my bud a bit gooey) and let in o2 once a week for a month and a half then store for 5-6 months and have fabulous ganja....If you were trying to store something long term, like seriously long term. I would makes hash (this whole idea hinges on the fact you can make proper hash)
Hash is more stable and if made properly will be delicious whether sieved or solvent..now hash stored out of light with o2 packet is a good idea as you can't really effectively cure those terps without mashing and plying etc...that's good for a couple years...some will say more but I'm strictly speaking about thc..cbd is more stable as is delta 8 and cbn etc so you will still get high......as always hash kept in etoh solution out of light is best

Descant packs are very dangerous depending on where you live and how long they will be in the container. When in doubt turn to science. Mold growth at 70 RH and above. THC declines under 60 RH. The perfect moisture is 62 RH. When growing dry your buds slowly to allow the centers to dry the best you can. Keep your RH at 58. After a week or so depending on your temperature, raise your RH to 62 and leave it for a minimum of 2 weeks. Don't shortcut your cure. Your effects, smell, taste and the smoothness will suffer. When I get a new batch from someone, you can tell when the cure was rushed. Your roll canoes. The effects are short and the herb makes you cough like walking pneumonia. I take it and place it in my curing jars at 62 and fix it the best I can. If the place you get it has a bozo at the wheel and he over dried it the THC will depletes and you cannot get it back.

When food is stored long term with O2 asorbers , vacume is never applyed becouse the asorbers require a small amount of moisture in the air to activate the O2 asorbers , However once the bag/jar is sealed the O2 asorbers pull their own vacume by locking up the O2.
I realise food is different than bud, but the technics should be similar

What is rh. I'm two weeks out from harvest myself and would love as a newbie to learn proper way to dry and cure. I've got at least two to three months for time I have 40" 6 tier mesh drying rack. Help me too please. Thanks guysWhat's up people,
So I've been wake n bakin' and really stoned, so I've been thinking about stuff this morning. Today, curing.
So I know how to properly dry and cure, and I understand the reason behind those techniques. I just have a few questions, or thoughts about curing itself.
One question is about the humidity in the jar and keeping the jar closed. So you can maintain your rH in your cure zone 60-65%, even after opening and closing it, is it still curing every time I close it, or has the curing stopped and now I'm just maintaining moisture in the jar?
Does curing only take place when the jar is unopened for long periods of time? I just don't see the difference except letting smell out, if I can maintain that "cure zone" rH %.
Let me know what you guys think, open for discussion, I'm just interested in learning more.
