Here they are, one Barneys Farm Blue Cheese and two SweetSeeds Sweet Thai

When are seedlings able to handle the HPS??????

Are mine able to go under the HPS this young and small(see pics)?????

I know its not recomended veg ed to with an HPS, but i think the 55,000 lumens that it puts out will undoubtedly be better than my 8,000 lumen flouro set up.

The short seedling is my Blue Cheese, the other two are the Sweet Thai, All three are three weeks old from sprout.

In my veg i have two bagseed experiments, i used them to get my feet wet

K, i put them in there for 2 hours before i went dark tonight. Now there sitting back under the flouros.

I am going to give the seedlings 12 hours of HPS, 12 hours of flouros cuz my bagseed need another week or two to finish.

Is that bad for them??? I cant think of how it could be??

Also, can i start giving these little guys some 1/4 strength FF nutes yet?????

Anyone??????
+ rep points for anyone who helps me out:mrgreen::mrgreen:

No man , either or. not a mix of light. not onyl will you confuse the plants . you will probably end up not getting the full growth doing this. i suggest the 400w hps lighting. use cfls for starting for the first 8 inches.

Word. Either/or on the lights.

You're still vegging right? I would chill on the nutes for a little while. Wait till you switch to 12/12 for the 1/4 strength nutes cuz there shuld still be nutes in your soil.

If you grow 24hr fluro/cfl you'll have smaller plants but they could really pick up when you switch to 12/12 under the HPS. I would suggest this route, amp the wattage as high as you can without burning your plants and keeping the temps comfortable ~77F

If you grow 24hr HPS you'll have more stretched out plants but the yield may be comparable to using just fluro/cfl.

Clearly the best option is to veg under MH then switch to HPS but u kno that.

What do you mean "before [you] went dark," I thought u were putting these under lights 24hrs. What's your lighting schedule?

Your other question... word... fluro's (I believe!) put out light within the blue spectrum, similar to MHs but with less intensity, while the HPS creates red spectrum lights. Blue = best for veg, Red = best for flower. It'd be like feeding ur plant lots of nitrogen during flowering instead of veg. I'm too high to think of a good comparison but u catch my drift right?

Best of luck! Um... do i deserve those points?

Yea that got you some points

Alright, I am keeping them under the flouros for at LEAST two more weeks, then i am going to clone, and veg again for one or two weeks, then flower them.

I am up for a transplant here pretty soon, prob within the next week or so, going to put them in the FF Ocean Forest and there 5G pots.

There are plenty of people that so start to finish with HPS. Whats the difference between vegging with a MH or an HPS. I use HPS from start to finish.

The difference between MH and HPS are there light spectrums

MH has a blue spectrum and HPS has a red spectrum

Plants have different types of Chlorophyll that absorb different types of light

Certain chlorophyl's make certain types of sugars

Certain sugars help the plants grow in different ways

So basically, blue light helps the plant matter grow, while red light helps the plants flowers to grow.

That explanation is extremely simplified
