When can I start topping my plant?

hey, I've been looking around and I can't seem to find when I'm able to begin topping my plant. Also is it better to cut or to bend and let them snap off themselves?

From seed, usually when the plant has 4 or 5 internodes.
Cut with sharp scissors or a sharp razor blade. Don't break
or snap the stem.

FIM ["Fukk I Missed"] the very-very tip of the top, and that will give you two tops....
Topping is when you cut down a few nodes, and loop off the top, which I then try and clone...
Depends on growth for me as to when I start...From seed, I want the roots big enough...
So usually I wait until 7 or 8 double sets of nodes...
Topping my clones, I wait until they get 7-8"...
Good Luck!

usually within the first 3 or 4 nodes..the lower you top her the fatter her stems will get..you can use scissors but you wanna make sure they are nice and clean. But the way I like to do it is pinch off the growth with my fingers, it helps seal the wound and is often less damaging to plants than cutting..

I saw a video on youtube and thats how the guy was doing it, not snapping the stem but bending the top over itself until it breaks off on its own. Pretty sure he said its less likely to mess up if you let the plant decide where its going to be topped.

I do around node 4 or 5 and it works out well. At that point under my MH the nodes are still very close together, so for all intents and purposed I get 4 tops. The top 2 nodes end up being around the same size in the end. See what I mean. First pic is Kannabia Big Band. Second is kick ass Pineapple Express.

I agree, remember tho that you will stunt the plant a little bit. it will take a few days/weeks to get back to norm growth. I like doing it early and I do it Twice (depends on strain). Look up Main lineing.
