Whats YOUR light schedule during flower?

I'm curious as to who runs their lights at night and who runs them during the day. I have been running mine on at 8am-8pm but I'm switching them over this weekend to on from 8pm-8am. The reason for my switch is it will be easier to keep the house cool during the day, day hours= possible company, and I'm hoping it will cut down on the smell with the lights and fans being off during the day, keeping me from burning a million candles all the time. bongsmilie:eyesmoke:

So what is your light schedule during flower? Any reasoning behind it?

Thats smart thinking, stay under the radar as much as possible! I honestly had no idea the rate of electricity went up at different times... I NEED to look into that more! Definitely making my change this weekend!

My rates go in 3 increments throughout the day and are double the overnight rate during peak times, makes a huge difference. Might be worth a look at one of your bills for sure ;)
 
Didnt know power was cheaper at night?? Thats crazy

Hydro is 2.5X the cost @ 12noon vs 12 midnight here.

I run mine 7pm-7am which is the cheapest possible, and dont have to fight the daytime heat. Win win

Only issue is you better have that flower tent light leak free, as the sun and house lighting you run will wanting to enter that tent and wake up your girls
 
7am to 6pm I think

So no one sees the lights at night and bugs aren't drawn in by the lights

also in the summer running during the day means my root zones stand a chance at getting under 20c during lights off

Winter can be an issue as I think I`d rather run at night to save using a heater when it drops under 0c but don`t fancy giving off all that light and heat at night

Building outside

veg right in the back, then flowering tent then our water/working area

lots and lots of bugs they`d go towards any light leaks any in-vents and such, plus I used to use cool tubes

just don`t want people seeing the lights and yeah if you go in there at night or filling up the water butt the door has to be open for the hose pipe and such

Yeah bugs would be drawn in there

plus in the summer it would be hitting close to 30c during the day so that`s a pretty hot "night"

would be nice to do it for the cheap electric and the extra cooling I`d get in the winter may mean I could push 400w to 1kw per M more light but still gotta pick what`s best for the grow op

balances up that lighting during the day is better for that one for sure
 
@MickeyMackWood I'd be careful when altering the light cycle as you plan to. Have you run these strains before? Highly stable/resilient? What week are you in?

I've changed the cycle from am-pm to pm-am without issue. I did this last summer, seeded everything. Confident in what I was doing, I neglected to consider my "Mystery", a very finicky high maintenance girl, throws bananas when you ruffle her feathers even a little.

After that happened, I read that a very well known and respected breeder (can't recall which) changed the light cycle mid-bloom to identify and eliminate any "weak links"/hermies from breeding projects.

Im in week 5. I didn't completely switch all at once, I left the light off 3 hours longer this morning, will do so again tonight and then complete the switch Sunday. I figure transitioning this way will cause the least amount of stress. Thanks for your input!
 
24/24 for veg.

8pm to 8am for flower.

Exhaust fan runs 24/24 (edit: I do only run my exhaust when the lights are on in winter)

I grow in a shed but dont have any light leaks so bugs are not a problem for me.

I get 40c and over summer day time temps. Rather run the light at night as its a little cooler. (granted im only running a CFL so dont have the heat generation issues you would). I use the light at night in winter to help keep the plants warm as it drops to -c here.

The hot days dont bother the plants to much as long as they have enough water and good airflow. In general most strains come from warm-hot climates. My out door plants in previous grows have seen 40c plus days (and 30c plus nights) for a week or more. They quickly adapt.

4 pm to 4 am. it just fits my schedule better so I can tend to the ladies right after work and time teas to be ready when I want it. But it supposedly is cheaper to run at night and it helps control heat

See in the winter I like to stop my extract at night to keep the heat in

if I ran my lights at night in the winter the air coming in would be very cold it could cause issues

plus I`d get mad condensation on the pipes

someone might see the lights

Also I work on the grow during the day most of the time unless I`m spraying, in summer I can turn the lights off or some of them when I`m working

In the winter the lights keep it nice and warm when I`m working in there

Don`t think I`d enjoy going there during a cold day to work in the cold and the dark

plus it suits my water boy, he`s a lazy fucker but normally he manages to be away between 6am and 6pm to poke his head in and check any issues

If I was drawing 2x the electric or more or the heat would have got 5c or more this summer than yeah I probably would have to run the lights at night, kinda glad I don`t tbh, bugs and someone might notice it, I mean at least one of my box fans is mounted right to the wall kicking air out gotta have a light leak around that atleast, lol
