they are 22 days old from seed grown under 5 cfl lights and i switched to the 600 watt hps light yesterday to start flowering the did great yesterday and now today about 2 hrs after the light turned on some of the leaves look like they are drying up and shriveling, the light is about 20 inches from the plants

Looks like a ver slight nute burn to me. Dilute the res a little with plain correctly pH'd water.

check out my buddy's new forum... skunk skool, google it.

i don't think it could be nuit burn cause its the same nutrients from last week, i just changed the rez water today after this happend to the plants, do you think it could be from the light cause thats what i'm worried about so i turned the 600 hps off and back under the cfl's to continue with flowering until i figure this out

Thing is that there are no signs that i can see of heat stress... so if it is a burn from the light then we should see other obvious signs of distress on the leaves.

how many leaves are affected? If it is just one, then it's probably nothing to worry about. Get that HPS back on, if anything at 20" it was too far away. Chances are the leaf just got damaged by something... but i doubt this has anything to do with your light. At 20" that is quite far away for a 600w.

i just turned the light back on and its actually 13 inches away i was pretty blazed and didn't feel like measuring it at the moment lol, i'm thinkin about takin some rez water out and putting in some plain water but the thing i don't get is that i've been using the same amount of nutrients the whole time and the ph has been steady at 6.0 the whole time

do you have an ec/ppm meter? If so, what ec/ppm are you using? Cannabis needs different concentrations of nutes at varying stages of life. Here's what you should be feeding, based on an 8 week flower schedule:

week 1: 1.2-1.4
week 2: 1.4-1.6
week 3: 1.6-1.8
week 4: 1.8-2.0
week 5: 1.6-1.8
week 6: 1.4-1.6
week 7: flush...

actually i only have two air stones that aren't that big so i guess i'll be headin to the pet store in a couple minutes to get bigger ones just incase and plenty of light is getting to the roots and i had no clue about that so i'll have to do something about that to, should i turn the 600 hps off for a couple hours until i fix them two things just to make sure things don't escalade

i don't have one of those meters, i'm just goin by the directions on the nutes and they are getting the nutes for the transition into flowering but this problem happend b4 i changed the nute solution

i think i fixed the problem i just hooked up new airstones and pump, the old airstones were only covering the middle area so thats y i think the middle plant was doin good and the outer ones were dying so now they are all getting air from the new airstones, and i covered all the wholes up so the roots don't get any light, hopefully this fixes everything i guess i'll just have to wait and see

I have had leaves cracking and shrivelling from too much heat caused by light too close to plants. I use the hand technique to check for too much heat-if it is warm when my hand is above the plants I move it higher. This always solves the problem of drying leaves out. I sometimes have to move my light pretty far away to save the leaves but it always works. I keep my room about 70 to 75 degF but have no humidification system and my 400W hps with reflector does make alot of heat that the leaves don't like being close to (probably makes temp. at top of plants 85 degF plus). That's my two cents.:weed:
