Is this just genetics? The plant of the left and the plant on the right were planted at the same time in the same soil.

It's wet under the surface guys. It was like 95 degrees today so the top of the soil dried quickly. That's definitely not the problem.

The right one, isn't sick and the left looks like it just had to much heat. If the soil is wet or moist it will bounce back over night.
